Chapter Twelve

They had been dating for ten days.She was happy,so was he.He's always pleasing her and being a gentlemen to her.She was pretty satisfied with their relationship.It was all she expected.

Her phone rang and she hungrily grabbed it from the countertop.“Hello?"She said.She was currently painting her toenails and curling her hair.She had another date with her super romantic boyfriend.Yes,she bragged on and on about it.Made the other girls jealous,especially when she showed them the edgy presents and talked about their nights out.She couldn't ask for more.

“Mia!Hey,it's me Clive." the person said,she froze.Clive?Clive Draco,the hottest man alive,for her,calling her?She immediately sat up straight and cleared her throat.

“Uhm,hi!"she said,“How are you?"

“Great,now that I got your number."he said.His deep voice brought chills down her spine.No man ever made her feel that way,just Todd but not all the time.Now that they were dating he was less seductive.

“Sooo,"she began,“How may I help you?"

When Mia got to the reception,she dusted off her skirt.It was just dinner,she reminded herself.The man needed some advice,he just got divorced.She had a huge crush on him when they were in college and they went out every once in a while but when he got married,they lost contact.Now they were adults and they had to control themselves.It was only dinner.She would console him,and that was it.

She did feel guilty for cancelling her date with Todd.She heard the disappointment in his voice when she called it quits.She just couldn't say no to Clive.She had known him longer than she knew Todd.No big deal. All she hoped was for Todd to never ever find out about what was about to happen.

“Draco.”she said to the woman in her late thirties.The woman smiled at her,“Follow me.” And with that,Mia followed her.Then she spotted him.He looked as handsome as ever,wearing a grey suite with a black tie.It looked like Hermes to her,but she wasn't sure.He hadn't changed much,he still had his good looks,but his face was a little more mature.

He stood up when he saw her,a true gentlemen.He smirked at her fine body,his eyes dancing.“Thank you for joining me,Mia."

“It's a pleasure."

“Please,take a seat.Would you like some wine?"

“Yes,please."

She sat uncomfortably as he poured wine in her glass.She didn't feel any warmth from the place,it was cold.Too cold.Also,she was beginning to rethinking what she had done.To Todd,it just wasn't fair.How could she have done that to him?Would he have done the same?Probably not.

Guilt washed over her as she took a sip of wine.It had a funny taste,almost bitter.She frowned at her glass.

“Drink it.It's one of the best here."Clive encouraged.His eyes jumped from her eyes to her cleavage.They stayed there for a long time,but Mia didn't notice.She was too busy stressing about the issue.She would make it up to him.The two of them could go to an island,some together time.

Clive's dark thoughts were clear,but she never looked in his eyes.She didn't have time nor patience for that.She was fascinated by the fact that her high school crush called her and asked her to “hang out".Who wouldn't?Clive reached across the table and squeezed her hand.

“What's wrong?"he asked her.

“Nothing."she lied,“No need to worry about me."

“I have the right to."He said.She pulled her hand away and took a gulp of the wine.Clive looked pleased with her reaction.He made her nervous,it was a good sign.

“What would you like to eat?"he asked as he went through the menu.“Anything."she answered.She just wanted the night to end,she had to go home and call Todd.Clive's presence wasn't doing her any good.She was beginning to develop a headache.

“Come on,pick something.You're breaking my heart here.Let's start off with starters."he said.

“I'll have a green salad."she said.He was pleased with her response.

As Mia dug into her panna cotta,her mind was running.She was dizzy,for an unknown reason and she was nauseous.She wasn't herself at the moment.She was a freak.

“Enjoying?" Clive asked her in a husky voice.She didn't respond verbally,she put her thumbs up as if to say “yeah".She was so busy eating she didn't notice his hand on her knee.

“Mia,"he began,“I'll have to drive you home."

“That's ridiculous.I'm in a very good mental state thank you."

“Please."

“Goodbye Clive."she said as she dropped her spoon on the plate and stormed out of the restaurant.And of course,he paid the bill and chased after her.He wasn't going to let her go without her part of the payment first.

“Mia come back here."he said as he jogged to keep up with her pace.His actions caused her to walk even faster,she just wanted to get inside her car,away from all that tension.He was so stupid he didn't realize that.

When he caught her by the arm,he pinned her against a random car.She began hitting his chest with her fists.He held her wrists and growled at her.“Watch what you do princess.It can cost you a lot."he warned.

“What do you want from me?"She asked.

“Isn't it clear?"he smirked.“I want you,"

“No."she said,“No!Let me go!Help!"

He shoved her in his car,he was on top of her.His hand was covering her mouth,preventing her from screaming.The last thing he wanted was being accused of assaulting a woman.Too much was at stake.

But his precious moment came to an end too soon.He was dragged away from her,someone was fisting his blazer.Mia sighed in relief,but when she saw who was saving her,she wanted to shrink and disappear.

It was Todd.

“You bastard!"Todd began punching and kicking and slapping Clive with all the strength he had.Mia left the car and just ran,as fast as she could.Away from all that endless drama.Todd would go after her,but first he had to make sure the bastard was dead.Then he'd go after Mia and demand an explanation.

“Don't you ever touch her."he said as he gave his final kick.He then turned around to look for Mia.She was gone,he thought.But he didn't worry about it,he would look for her.He knew where she lived,and she couldn't run away forever.She owed him an explanation,and he'd rip it from her.Whatever it took.

When the door swung open,Mia knew he was coming for her.And sooner or later,she'd have to give him an explanation.Only problem was she didn't know what she would say to him.There was no explanation.She had gone out with another man,and had even gotten in trouble.If it weren't for him,she wouldn't be safe.

“Todd...I-"

“You owe me an explanation!"he said,pointing a finger at her.

“I know.I just-"

“If you don't have a reasonable one,it's over!"

I knew by then,that it would be the end of us.He wouldn't understand me,and I knew that I would lose the only man I've ever loved.
