Chapter Eleven

Todd was at the reception,waiting for Mia to walk through the doors.He was currently leaning on the counter,making the receptionist slightly uncomfortable.She was squirming in her seat,and Todd noticed.He knew the effect he had on women,and he did it on purpose.

When Mia walked through the doors,He flashed her his best smile.She looks gorgeous,he thought and he loved the way that pencil skirg hugged her thighs.He did love a good skirt,they were his favourite piece of clothing.

Mia was beyond excited.She was proud and the fact that all her female co-workers were drooling over Todd boosted her ego.Her subconscious patted her on the back for finding such a good-looking boyfriend.

“You look gorgeous."He said to her.

“Why thank you,so do you."

“Thanks."

He escorted her out the building and leaded her to his car.He joined her minutes later,smiling to himself.The scent of her perfume made him grind his teeth.He had to control himself,and he was doing a hood job so far.The only problem was his past,it haunted him.He still remembered the emptiness he felt when he found out that a piece of him was missing,and that it had been replaced.He didn't like replacements,but there was nothing he could do about it.He had to endure it.

He took her to dinner,and congratulated her on her promotion.All her hardwork was compensated,and she felt luxurious.The champagne she was drinking helped the feeling.If it were another woman,he would scold her for drinking almost half of the bottle but since it was Mia,he was pleased.After all,he is a cheapskate.

“How was your day?"she asked casually.He let her in in all the details,excluding the part where he woke up with a prostitute.

“As you know,mine was marvellous!"she beamed.He watched her eat,her knife cutting into her steak and her mouth moving whilst she ate.Gerald said he was crazy,but he prefers the term 'misunderstood'.What could he say?Women simply fascinated him.

By the time they finished eating,it was past eight.He paid the bill and drove her back home.He kissed her goodnight and left,leaving her breathless and flushed.

Todd woke up feeling the same usual pain.He was so used to it he didn't even realize he was feeling pain.His heart was hammering against his chest and he felt that little sting.He placed his palm on his heart.It left a deep scar,he thought.He closed his eyes and waited for sleep to drift in,but to his disappointment,It didn't.It was three am and he was going to be up. 

He went into the kitchen and prepared a mug of black coffee.He sat on one of the stools and rested his elbows on the counter.He blew out air.Could it be true?The rumours,the research.All of it,he thought.The thought made him sick.

His phone rang and he reached out to grab it.Who could it be at three am?He answered it,not hesitating.He didn't check the caller ID.

“Hello?"

“Todd!"

“Gerald?What's up?"

“We were robbed."

“What?"

Todd rushed to the garage,his mind running wild.Gerald didn't give him much detail on what happened,and Todd didn't want to find out via the cell.He wanted to see the damage with his own eyes.

When he got there,he saw policemen surrounding the area.The nosy neighbors had already crowded the area.Todd sighed out in frustration.

“Todd!"he heard Gerald call.His first instinct was to punch Gerald for not doing whatever he was supposed to do,but he decided against it.He listened.
