It was a rainy day, Mia had never seen such a thing. The previous day it was sizzling hot, and now it was wet and humid. The clouds were grey, and she could hear the thunder from a distance. Her forehead was pressed against the window pane.
She was still trying to recover from the break down she had. She couldn't believe how her family had betrayed her. Is that what you call a family?
She was disappointed. Disappointment was greater than the shame and the embarrassment. It was the only thing that held her back. She didn't even go down to have breakfast. She didn't feel like seeing or talking to anyone.
What a family.
There was a knock on the door, and she knew Todd walked in the room. His cologne filled her nostrils, his shower gel clouded her thoughts, and his presence knocked her off her damn feet.
“Mia, you didn't have breakfast, I brought you some." she heard him say. When she turned around, he held out the tray and had a gorgeous smile on his face. She couldn't've asked for more.
She sat on their bed, and he did afterwards. She took a sip of the lemonade first, it was really sour.
“Lauren prepared it for you." Todd said. Mia placed the glass back on the tray. No wonder it was that sour.
“What's wrong?" Todd asked.
“Not hungry," she said. There was no way that she would eat something Lauren prepared, for all she knew there could be rat poison on the toast.
“Mia, why do you hate Lauren so much?"
She swallowed hard. What would she tell him? She wasn't ready to spill so much in a day. “I don't hate her, I simply dislike her, that's all."
“Simply? Mia, you refuse to eat food she prepared for you, you cringe whenever you hear her name, your mood changes whenever you see her. Mia, what's going on?" he asked.
“I can't tell you," she whispered.
“Can't? Mia, what's wrong with you?"
That's when she snapped. She didn't know why he was asking her so many questions, and she didn't care why, but the fact that she thought she was the villain was simply pissing her off.
She stood up and glared at him, “You have no idea of what happened between the two of us, no damn clue. I'm the only one that does. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to rest."
She stormed to the other side of the bed, jumped on the bed and pulled the covers to her side. Todd stared at her in amusement. It couldn't be that serious, he thought. It could probably some cousin jealousy. Mia tended to be very dramatic sometimes.
He lifted himself off the bed and walked out the door, taking the tray along with him. Mia sobbed silently. She couldn't take it anymore, and Henrico's presence was making it an awful lot worse.
She had to do something about it. She had to solve the problem only she could. Her heart was heavier than the clouds outside, and she had to let the rain pour. Once it did, she'd be normal again.
She stood up from the bed. First thing's first, she had to find Henrico. She rushed out the room, hoping that she would come out being successful.

Todd took a drag of the cigarette. He blew the smoke out, watching as it got lost in the wind. He was stressed. He was bored.
Her family was nothing but cold to him. Lauren seemed to be the only one that was actually there for him. She was good company.
She had cut her hair, and now it's just like Mia's. She probably admires Mia, but Mia don't give a shit, he thought.
That was cruel. The woman he loved wasn't cruel and cold. He couldn't help but wonder what changed so drastically. What had he missed?
“Brought you something."
He cocked his head to the side and saw Lauren approaching him, a tray in her hands. Now she was acting like his damn wife, he thought.
“Chocolate brownies, freshly baked."
“Uh..." he scratched his head, “thanks, but why? Why bother?"
“Oh well, I like pleasing people, I always have." she purred out. Todd simply side-glanced at her. Unbelievable.
“How's Mia?" she asked.
“She's good, she's in her room...and yeah." he stammered. He was getting nervous. Lauren crossed her legs.
“Do I make you nervous, Todd?" she licked her lips seductively. Todd swallowed hard. Here we go again.
“No." he stated.
“I think the big bad wolf is lying to me," she smirked, “but I'm the little red riding hood, and I won't let him lead me on."
And with that, she pounced on him.

Meanwhile, Mia was desperately looking for Henrico. She needed to solve this, once and for all. She couldn't sleep, she couldn't eat, and hell, she couldn't even be a fianceé. She wouldn't want Lauren to do that now would she?
That's when she caught a glimpse of him. He was heading into the stables, and closed the door behind him. She ran as fast as she could, and entered the stables as well.
When she got in there, she couldn't see him, she could only hear his voice. It seemed like he was on the phone. So, she listened.
“Yeah, I'm at a farm. Yeah, Mia's family's farm." the there was a short pause, “Who, Mia? Oh she's doing great, just depressing, as always."
Mia pumped her fist.
“Yeah, she just downgraded man. Good thing I slept with Lauren before our wedding day, who knows what kind of mess I'd be putting myself in." pause again, “Yeah, and what she doesn't know is Lauren is banging her fiancé behind closed doors."
Mia picked up a log. She was gritting her teeth now. She was shaking with anger, her head was pounding. She couldn't control the anger and hatred that had consumed her.
She shook as she held the log with both her shaky hands. She moved closer, he was still on the phone but she couldn't hear anymore. She was a beast now.
She was about to swing the log and knock Henrico's head off when darkness enveloped her. She could see blood splattered around, some even on her clothes, but she couldn't tell whose they were. She was down.
A few minutes earlier...
Todd pushed her away. He was tired of the cheating, and he was tired of Lauren. “What is your problem?" he asked her, venom dripping from his words.
“My problem? Todd, I actually have feelings for you. You and I could be together!" she yelled.
“You're sick, Lauren, get help."
“Oh, I'm not the one with the problem. Your precious fianceé didn't even tell you that she was engaged to Henrico Olivera!"
Her words halted him. His heart was bleeding, his blood pressure rising. “What did you say?"
“That's right. The pretty boy, Henrico, was engaged to her a few years ago. Mia isn't much of a fianceé, she didn't even bother to tell you that."
“Where is she?" he asked. After a second, he spun around. He wrapped his hands around her neck, and she struggled under his death grip.
“Where is she?!" he roared. She was choking now, and he abruptly dropped her to the floor. She choked on her breath.
“Barn." she choked out.
And he left running. Lauren right behind him.
