Chapter Sixteen

Todd had stayed for dinner,Mia's mother insisted.While Todd and Mia were close,filling the house with love,Lauren was being unpleasant.As usual.She couldn't stand the fact that Mia was happy once again,and she was in the shadows.She had ruined Mia's life purposely to ensure that she could never find love,and look where that had gotten her.

She remembered every detail,every second of the day that was so victorious to her.Everything had gone the way she had expected,even though that did put her name down and all their family hated her for almost a year.Mia herself hadn't forgiven Lauren for what she had done.She never would...

It was her wedding day.She was twenty-one back then,and she was engaged to Henrico Olivera,a man that she had met in her aunt Katie's wedding anniversary.She was happy,she actually thought Henrico was her soulmate.She thought they belonged together,that they were meant to be.

Lauren as always,was jealous.She did everything she could to separate the two of them,and in the end she succeeded.She always did.

She had gone to Henrico's apartment a night before their wedding,and seduced him.She promised him happiness and children and a family,all he wished for.Of course,Henrico had fallen for her,trapped in her spell.She slept with him,her cousin's fiancé.

The next day,Mia was preparing herself.She had talked to Henrico in the morning,and he promised her that they would always be together,and nothing would tear them apart.

They had everything ready.The reception,the wedding cake,the guests had arrived,which were mostly family and some friends.Food,clothing,everything.It would be the best day of both Mia's and Henrico's lives.Mia wanted a day she and all the other guests would never forget.Lauren gave her exactly that.

When Mia stepped into the church,the flowergirl and the flowerboy in front of her,she saw Henrico waiting for her.He looked handsome,dressed in a glamorous silver suit and black polished shoes.Mia herself looked dashing,her wedding dress was princess-like.She wore white Sissy Boy heels,and her headpiece was passed on from her mother.The moment was perfect.

When both parties were about to say “I do",Lauren stood and interrupted the moment.All eyes were on her,just the way she wanted.“You can't marry him,Mia."she said.

“Lauren what are you doing?"her mother asked harshly,“Take a seat!"

“No,mother.This bastard can't marry Mia,not after what he promised me last night."Gasps were heard,and Mia's eyes were wild,but that motivated Lauren,and she spoke up,“Last night,I had Henrico in my bed.How dare you do this to me?After everything we had

done?After so many promises,Henrico."

“Daughter,we are in the house of God.You are interrupting a sacred-"

“Oh screw you!"Lauren said to the priest,“I am not going to let Mia marry him.If you want proof,here it is." she said and threw photographs at Mia.When Mia looked down at them,tears pricked her eyes.Everything Lauren had said was proven.She had been in bed with Henrico,and Mia ran away from the humiliating scene.

After that,Mia was never the same.She blocked everyone out,attempted committing suicide countless times.She would go out in the streets and ask God why.Why it had happened to her,and what she had done to deserve it.But after she moved to another town and met Todd,everything changed.She wasn't the same cheerful Mia,but she was doing great.Her mother was happy,but Lauren clearly wasn't.

“Are you sure you have to leave?"her mother asked as Todd placed her bags on his trunk.She smiled sweetly at her mother,“Yeah,I have work tomorrow and Todd does too."
