Chapter Three

Mia got home tired and exhausted. She dropped her bag on the floor and she hit the couch. The day had been so tiring for her, and her boss kept giving her more work.

She didn't even have lunch. And that's when she remembered that she didn't talk to Jade, and she promised.

She picked up her phone and she dialled her friends' number.

“Hello?"

“Hey! It's me Mia. I'm sorry about today, I was really busy. Sonny was unforgiving, as usual."

“It's okay girl. We all know how Sonny is."

“Yeah, so how are you? Now that you're going to be a married woman, I suppose you're dancing on your toes."

“I'm so happy.You have no idea, he actually proposed! And I thought he was the kind of touch and go."

“Water under the bridge. You're so lucky!"

“And he bought me a beautiful ring. Not the ring I wanted but yeah, it's beautiful!"

“You and your insatiable hunger for diamonds. I can imagine. I'm happy for you girl."

“Thank you, means a lot to me. Hey, I'm going to this bakery, Les Muchachos, it's here in my area. I was hoping you would join me."

“Sure! The cab drove right by it the other day and I mentally noted myself to take you and Jamie with. Right now I am hungry, didn't have lunch so I'll change and I'll be on my way."

“You need the address?"

“No stupid I just told you I know where it is."

“Oh, my bad I'm still daydreaming about him on his knees. Anyways, see you in thirty."

“Okay, bye."

She hung up the phone and she rushed into her room.She didn't have time to shower so she changed outfits and took her wallet with.

Stupid bitch, she thought. Age has no idea of what it's like to be married. After thirty minutes she was there, and when she entered the bakery, she immediately spotted Jades' mop of sexy brown curls that looked rather ridiculous on her.

She rushed towards the table her friend was sitting on and she gave her a hug.

“Good to know you made it, and in time."Jade smirked. Mia laughed at her friends' comment. She hoped she noted the sarcasm, because it was written on her damn face.

“So...what will you have?"Jade asked as she handed Mia a menu. Mia looked at the menu and sighed.

“All of these look so good!"she groaned. It was appetizing, burritos and salsa and all that.

“And taste too."Jade said as she added sugar to her cappuccino. Mia decided to have a piece of chocolate cake, after her ghost taco and a cappuccino as well. 

“So, I'm settling down, when will you?"Jade asked Mia, causing her to choke on her drink.

“I don't know. I don't find most men attractive."Mia whispered. Why was she poking her tiny fingers up her ass?

“Then you should take a look at the guy that's looking this way."Jade jerked her finger towards the counter. Mia turned around and she met beautiful brown eyes. It was the guy from the garage, she remembered. That jerk.

As much as she wanted to, she couldn't tear her eyes away from him. He looked so handsome. The dimple on his chin added to the sexy look, he was so attractive. And an asshole.

“You see what you like?"Jade asked with a smirk plastered across her face.

Mia broke eye contact immediately and wondered how long she had been staring at the man. Suddenly she felt embarrassed. Her cheeks turned crimson and her legs were trembling.

“Your face is priceless right now!"Jade laughed, which caused Mias' cheeks to heat up even more. She backs up her guard one time and already amateurs like Jade want to provoke her.

“I think he's attracted to you."Jade said all of a sudden.

“Why?"Mia asked as she drank her warm cappuccino.

“He's looking at you hungrily. Like you're a piece of meat."Jade whispered and eyed him. Mia rolled her eyes. What does she know about lust and hunger? Jade's first time was when she was 25.

He noticed. In fact, he knew that they thought he was attractive, every woman does. That was the cycle of life. Added to the excitement of the game.

“Ah, I see you got your eye on someone." The baker said, hitting Todd's shoulder playfully as he always did.

“Shut up old man."Todd grunted, looking away from the womans' legs. The baker laughed and continued washing the dishes.

As much as Todd tried, he couldn't tear his eyes away from the woman. For a split second, he imagined the two of them together in love, but he knows that will never happen. Like his mother said, he's a creature incapable of loving.

All of a sudden, the woman was standing right next to him. He froze,but he quickly recovered and continued drinking his cold glass of beer. The woman had guts.

“Thank you so much for the food, keep the change." she said to the baker. He couldn't help but notice the calmness and the sexiness of her voice. It was intriguing. Yet he also noticed the impatience, and the demand in her tone. The woman related so much to him.

She then left the bakery, leaving her friend behind. She hopped into the car, her red Porsche and sped off, not sparing the attractive man a single glance.

Alright, he thought as he popped his gum. Two can play at this game. She'd eventually come to him soon, or else, he'd find her instead.
