“I'm waiting."Todd snapped.

“You won't understand!"

“Try me."

Mia was desperately trying to find a reasonable explanation for all that had happened, but she was having a hard time. What would she say to make things better,to make him trust her again? There wasn't too much to choose from,so she went with the truth.

“Clive was one of my friends,in high college. We used to hang together, and I'll admit...I had a thing for him."Todd took in a deep breath,“We haven't seen each other in years,I don't know how he got my number.I didn't ask either. He,he told me he was having some problems-"

“What problems?"he snapped.

“He was getting divorced.I consoled him and he asked me to join him for dinner. Then the rest of the story you know."she said.

He drew in a sharp breath, and glared at her,“You told me you weren't feeling well. And when I asked you if I could come over, you said you were at a friend's house."

“I know."

“You lied to me?"

“I'm sorry."

Todd didn't say another word. There was nothing to say.To him,she cheated on him.Even though she wouldn't admit it.If he hadn't tracked her GPS,what would've been of her,of them?He could take anything, except lies.He walked out of her apartment without a word, and without even bothering to close the door behind him.

She was on the couch, wearing a bathrobe and her hair was dripping wet.She stood up and closed the door, and hoped her neighbors didn't hear any of that. She went into her bedroom and put her head in her hands.

What have I done?

When Gerald heard the second crash,he went into Todd's office. When he saw the mess, his face fell.“Buddy, you need to relax."His response was a growl. He took a few steps back.“Todd, you look and sound like a wild animal. Why are you breaking all this stuff man, these are important documents man."

“Leave me alone Gerald.I don't wanna hurt you."

“And I don't want to lose an eye."he said and left Todd to himself.Todd leaned into the door, then punched it.All he thought about was how Mia could do something to him.Lie?The thought made him angrier, and he broke more stuff and tore more papers. At the moment,he didn't care. All he wanted to do was distract himself from going back to Mia's place and ripping her head off with his bare hands.

He trusted her,he believed in her and she betrayed his trust.Maybe she was lying about Clive.Maybe he was an ex-boyfriend,and not a close friend. He was glad he smacked the hell out of him.It gave him a sense of pride and dignity.Nobody messes with what's mine.Mia was definitely his,she belonged to him,and he wouldn't let her go.

Never in his life had he met a woman that defined him the way she did, that pleased him the way she did. They belonged together, and he didn't want that to change.Ever.He cursed and threw the desk lamp at the wall. That eased his nerves, slightly.

After he realized that there was nothing left to break in his office,he sat on his chair and lit a cigarette. He took a drag and blew the smoke out, which relaxed him and helped him regulate his breathing. He watched as the smoke evaporated when it fit the surface. The smell was strong, and he reminded himself to pop a mint in his mouth after he was done smoking.

Gerald knocked on his door and didn't wait for a response. He found Todd calm and relaxed. He realized that it was safe to walk in without being thrown with a heavy object.“You alright?"he asked his partner.
