Chapter Eighteen

His eyes made contact with hers and her world spun around.The same look of surprise shone in his eyes,but anger overtook it.He hadn't forgotten,which she already knew.He would never forgive her for leaving his son on their wedding day,when he had forgotten that his son was the one that cheated on her with her cousin.He always thought of Henrico as a saint,when in reality he was the devil himself.

He approached Mia with a dark glint in his eyes.Mia swallowed hard.She was desperately trying to contain herself,to concentrate on anything but that damned man but it was impossible.The memories were haunting her again.

When he approached her,their eyes connected.Years and years of hatred towards each other was present at the moment,Mia was afraid the other coworkers would notice the tension between them.His assistant was saying something in the background but it was an echo in Mia's mind,all she was concentrating on were those deep brown merciless eyes that belonged to Satan himself.

Then without a word he went into his office.Mia was relieved,she couldn't stand the intensity of his stare,that dark stare.She could live without ever seeing the miserable man,she would be happier.Without him and his son of course.

She stared at Jade in disbelief.This was the man she said was hot?Jade stared at Mia and shrugged.She,too,looked confused.Mia wondered what was going on.Had Jade seen Henrico and not his father?

Mia began organizing her work files and answering phonecalls to customers that were dying to buy the latest products.She simply wanted to go home and keep her distance from Gordon Olivera.

Before Mia turned the key in the lock,she noticed something.The door was already opened.She frowned at the doorknob and turned it.When she went it,the smell of tobacco hit her nostrils.She gagged and opened the windows.

Somebody was in the house,she thought.When she went in her room to see whether they had taken her jewelry but when she did,she froze.Somebody was on her bed taking drags out of cigarettes.If looks could kill,he'd be dead.

“Donald what are you doing here?"Mia asked in a loud voice.Donald looked at her,and blew out smoke.He threw the cigarette out the window and then placed his arms behind his head.

“Hello,mommy.It's nice to see you,too."he said instead,sarcasm lacing his voice.He flashed her a fake smile.

“I asked you a question."she charged towards him,“And take your feet off my sheets!"

“Relax will ya?Look,I borrowed dad's copy of your key.Came in,made some lunch and then came to take a nap.No big deal."he explained and stood from her bed.Mia squinted her eyes at him.“You're lying,"she stated,“Donald,what are you doing here?"

“I already explained.I'm not going to repeat myself I'm not a damn parrot."he huffed and walked past her,bumping her at the process.

Mia rushed after him,“You're being really rude.You have a terrible personality."

“My personality,is who I am.My attitude is based on the way you treat me.Ever heard that?It's all over Facebook."he said.

“I'm sorry,I just had a bad day and-"

“Oh,great! Let's put all our stress on Donald the Duck,and maybe he'll be okay with it.I'm sorry Mia but that's a stupid excuse.You might as well just shut up."

Donald left afterwards and Mia felt her heart sink.She was rude,she let Gordon get to her which was exactly what she wanted to avoid.Okay,he was wrong for smoking inside the house but she didn't have to overreact the way she did.Maybe he was over to see how she was and spend some time with her.She covered her face with her hands,and exhaled.What a terrible,terrible day.
