"Wait... does that mean Lady Alyssa is no longer the Crown Princess?"

"If she's not the Crown Princess anymore, I wonder how everyone outside the palace will treat her?"

"She was known as the black sheep four years ago, but those rumors disappeared when she got engaged to His Highness. And now this has happened."

I quietly smiled to myself, hearing the maids whispering about me no longer being the Crown Princess.

That news had spread like wildfire throughout the empire, and everyone was completely shocked.

Luckily, the royal family had readily agreed to end the engagement... maybe because they never fully accepted Alyssa as the future queen in the first place. It was clear they had someone else in the Duchy they preferred.

Father had even tried to convince me to reconsider when I begged him to break the engagement a few days ago. I was firm in my decision, and he had no choice but to accept my request because it was the first and only time Alyssa had ever asked for anything.

Alyssa didn't like asking for things. She always believed that nothing was impossible and was willing to do anything herself to achieve her goals.

And I was the same way... we had similar personalities, which must be why I adapted to her life so easily.

And no one suspected a thing... I felt sorry for Alyssa. She grew up in a family where only your strength and intelligence mattered.

Alyssa had received a good education, but since she wasn't exceptional like her siblings... that must be why she was just a normal, typical high school girl in my past life.

She didn't need to be special to impress others... she wanted to be special in her own way.

I guessed that my first big event after the breakup would be the Princess's birthday, which was next month... enough time for me to gather my resources secretly.

I stood up and grabbed a dark cloak to hide who I was. Even now, it was almost pointless because I was the only person with golden eyes.
Golden eyes that had become a mystery to everyone... Not even the author of the book had revealed why Alyssa had a different eye color.

I walked into a secret passage... a passage my siblings and I used when we wanted to sneak out of the mansion without anyone knowing.
Walking through the busy streets of the capital, I saw many people browsing in the shops.

But there was someone I wanted to find... someone who could elevate my business to a high-class level. But first, I needed information... information from inside the biggest information network in the kingdom, the Archduke's family.

It was a secret that no one knew, and as always, I knew it because I had read about it in the book.

The Priestly family... the Archduke who was the King's third prince and the only brother of the Emperor, the second prince.

The first prince had died of an incurable illness when he was only fifteen, resulting in his early death. Thus, Juvanes Charlington had become the King, which surprised everyone. He was the black sheep of the family, just like me.

And the Archduke was unique, from his looks to his talents.

And that was why the Emperor would eventually try to kill the Archduke's heirs... He also wanted to wipe out the Silverton family because of their endless power across the entire continent.

The main villain of the story tried to kill the heroine because he wasn't satisfied with her... the only one he truly wanted was the villainess of the story, Amelia Claire Silverton.

The one who seemed to have everything... He was even happy when he found out about my death, that she had gotten rid of me just to take my place as the Prince's fiancée.

But that didn't happen because our parents didn't agree... because what if she died too, like I did?

This made her angry at them, and she started to control society, going against her own family.

But it didn't end well for her after the heroine appeared... nothing good ever happened on her side of the story.

In the end, she was executed because she tried to poison the future Crown Princess using the same methods she had used on the original Alyssa.

Life is tough... really tough.

'Wait, so you mean those illegal slave traders have moved their location?'

I stopped walking when I heard some people talking about the illegal slave traders who had been a big problem in the story.

I guessed this was the time when some investigators had found a clue about where they were, and they suddenly moved to a new place. They would eventually get caught a year later.

Even if I didn't do anything... things would probably happen the way they were supposed to.

Should I just give them a little hint?

I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down the hiding spot of those terrible criminals.

I folded it into a paper airplane and made it fly towards them as I quickly walked away.

It was up to them whether they believed it or not because I had already given them the information.

I looked up at the starry night as I walked through the busy streets of the capital and decided to go back home.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to meet that person tonight...

The person who would help me secretly build my reputation...
