"Ehh?!?! Moonlight?!? Are you kidding me?!?"

I exclaimed loudly, taken aback by the news that I was now the owner of Moonlight.

I mean... what the heck?

I had hypothesized that either Virgo, Grandmother, or Grandfather owned Moonlight, but to think I was the new owner?!? It made no sense! I had never even considered it!

"I know you're beyond shocked, My Lady, but Master told us that when you were ready, you would be handling Moonlight, and Scorpio has been rambling about having to take care of the company for years now," she explained, and I sighed deeply.

Scorpio... did she mean Miss Sylvia?

"Scorpio... you mean, Miss Sylvia?" I asked, and she nodded. "Yes, the VP of Moonlight, Scorpio. And please, don't call her 'Miss'; she dislikes it because it makes her feel old," she told me.

Was that why Miss Syl- I mean, Scorpio always took such good care of me when I shopped at Moonlight? And gave me ridiculous discounts?

"I see. But why do I have to take care of Moonlight to command you all?" I asked her, and she smiled at me.

"It's because Moonlight is the Celestial Safe; the keys are hidden there, and only you have access to it." I could see her eyes light up as she explained.

"Oh, okay... should I just take a carriage when I go there?" I asked, and I heard Grandfather chuckle.

"No need for that, Alyssa. I have a portal in one of these rooms that leads directly to Moonlight," Grandfather said, and the two of them suddenly stood up from their seats, as did I.

They walked towards a specific room, and I followed them with my short legs, while Virgo, with her long, slender legs, and Grandfather, who was like a giant, led the way.

We stopped in front of a particular room, which looked old and untouched, as if it hadn't been opened in decades.

"Behind this door is Moonlight. Are you ready to meet your people?" Grandfather asked me, and I took a huge, deep breath.

"I don't know why this is happening to me; I'm only sixteen... but if this is what I'm destined to do, I'm born ready," I declared, making Virgo chuckle at my flustered words.

"I see, then... you may now enter, Alyssa," Grandfather told me, but before he twisted the doorknob open, I stopped him. "Wait—will Virgo come along? Will you come along?"

"I have a meeting with the family elders, and Virgo will teleport herself to Moonlight, so you must use this portal alone," Grandfather explained, and I took another huge, deep breath.

"Okay, I'm ready now. Open it, Grandfather," I said, and he opened the door. I slowly entered, closing my eyes against the sudden burst of light.

When the light faded, I slowly opened my eyes and looked around, my jaw dropping as I took in the office.

It was literally made of gold?!? Was this just the beginning of showing how wealthy Moonlight was?

And it was all mine?

Wa-wait, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. I was just here as a caretaker of this place, on behalf of Grandmother.

As I walked around, I stopped in my tracks, staring at the portrait above. My jaw dropped again at the sight of the person in the portrait.

She was like an older version of me...

"Is she Grandmother Veronica?" I uttered, gazing at the breathtaking appearance of my grandmother, whom I only knew from stories, other than Grandfather, of course.
