"Just how big is this freaking mountain?!" I exclaimed loudly, still wandering along the misty, mysterious, and unpaved path in the heart of Mt. Umbra.

I'd been stuck here for two days now and hadn't heard anything from the Signs. Maybe they couldn't get through the protective barrier at the entrance, which I could only guess that it blocked magical beings. This led me to believe that the magic seal must be somewhere here in these deep, scary, and rugged mountains.

I'd only eaten wild berries since getting stuck. Luckily, I didn't have to worry about being poisoned because I'd recently discovered that I had the Silverton's poison immunity, the same as my father. This meant I was immune to any poison in the world except for a specific flower poison, which I hadn't encountered yet.

Hopefully, I wouldn't come across it here, especially since I was all alone with no one to help me.

"Okay, I've rested well enough! Need to get going," I declared, immediately standing up from the ground, dusting myself off, and continuing to navigate the dense forest of the mountain.

"Hmm..."

Hopefully, I could stumble upon the magic seal and defeat Kahli once and for all! Then I would be able to save Grandmother. Now that I was certain she wasn't dead, just inside me to seal my own magic from getting out of hand, freeing her had become another important mission.

As I made my way through this place, killing each monster that lurked and planned to attack me, I reached a certain spot at the north foot of the mountain. There, nestled in the shadows, was a cave—the entrance of that damn compass.

Examining the outside, comparing it to what I'd read in the past, I could confirm that this was it. I took a huge deep breath as I gazed at the eerie entrance, with human skeletons and cobwebs scattered around, indicating that no mortal had ever come here. This made sense because it was too dangerous to venture inside, and very few had ever survived. Besides that, I noticed another barrier, the same as the one at the mountain's entrance, which could only mean one thing...

Once I went in, I could never go back out...

Just as I was about to step into the barrier, someone yanked me back by my cape, dragging me away from the entrance. I furrowed my brows and turned to face the person who was interrupting my journey.

"What the f— Kian?!"

My eyes widened when I saw him, illuminated by the moonlight, his blue hair catching the silver glow of the moon. He looked at me with a worried expression. He was wearing his usual outfit: a cape, leather boots and pants, and a vest, which made him look quite handsome.

I hadn't seen him since our fight back in the empire when he confessed that everything had been a lie. To be honest, I was still angry at him for deceiving me.

"What the heck are you doing here?! Heck, how did you even find me?!" I exclaimed, standing up straight and facing him, placing my hands on my hips and giving him an interrogating look.

"I could say the same to you, you know? What the heck are you doing? That cave is dangerous, and yet you're planning to go in?!" He scolded me, pointing at the ominous cave.

"It's none of your freaking business, and also? I'll ask again, how the heck did you even find me?!" I exclaimed. Not even my fiancé had figured out where I was, and yet Kian had already transported himself to my location.

"Miss Carla told me that you had gone to Mt. Umbra by yourself. How could you even think of venturing out alone? You are unfamiliar with the northern kingdom, which I would remind you again—is the most dangerous kingdom in the world," he answered, and my brows furrowed in confusion.

Who the heck was Miss Carla?

Just as I was about to ask, I suddenly remembered a conversation I had with the Signs:

"Come on... Kian is the perfect guy! And—"

"Uhh... no? If you say it like that, it sounds like he's paying you to say it," I had cut Gem off, and she had immediately shut her mouth.

"Look, we know Kian because Cancer was the one who took care of him on behalf of his parents, since the Emperor was trying to kill him and—" Capricorn hadn't finished her sentence when Aries covered her mouth, preventing her from saying anything more.

"Capricorn, I think we agreed never to talk about it... and besides, Kian hasn't told Master anything about him. We don't have the right to say anything," Virgo had told Capricorn, who sighed loudly.

So Cancer was the one who raised Kian. Who was this guy? Why was he also so damn mysterious?

I stared at him as he continued to ramble about how reckless and stubborn I was being, seemingly looking for trouble.

"Even if you keep lecturing me, I'm still going inside that cave," I told him, and he fell silent.

"Well, too bad for you. When I am around, you won't be going anywhere near that cave," he stubbornly declared, and we glared at each other, neither wanting to back down.

Knowing him, he was extremely stubborn and definitely wouldn't let me near that cave. So, I might need to distract him...
