01. The Very First Day

Y/N woke up early one morning. A wave of excitement washed over her.

"Mum! Dad! Theo! Wake up! It's my first day of school, I don't want to be late!" she yelled on top of her lungs.

Theo came down first, he groggily walked down the stairs. "It's 6 am, the train leaves at 11," he huffed, his dark blonde hair pointing in a hundred different directions.

"I know," Y/N said as he grab an overnight waffle from the counter.

"You both all packed right?" Tina questioned the two.

"Yes" Y/N and Theo said at the same time.

Once they've arrived, the platform was full of witches and wizards bidding goodbyes to their families. Y/N saw Theo waving at his friends from afar.

"My friends are here. Goodbye mum and dad, love you!" he said before walking to where his friends are.

"Not before a hug," Tina said. The woman engulfed both children into a bone crushing hug. Just before they pull apart, Newt wrapped his arm around them too.

"We will miss you very much!"
"Don't get in trouble!"
"Write to me about everything okay?"
"Stay safe,"
"Take care of your sister,"

And with that, her parents kissed both of their children on the cheeks and they're off to a new home.

"Do you want to go with me or do you want to make new friends?" Theo asked. Before Y/N can say anything, her brother continued: "Have fun on your first day!" he ran off and stepped inside the seventh year Hufflepuff compartment.

"Guess I have to find myself a compartment," she mumbled to herself.

She walked along the train, a few first years were standing awkwardly not knowing where to go.

Y/N looked around and at last, she found a boy sitting by himself with a book opened in his lap. She recognized him immediately —it was the boy she met at Diagon Alley.

"Hey, may I sit here?" Y/N asked politely to him while opening the door to the compartment.

The boy looked up from his book and said: "Of course, I've met you before, haven't I?"

"Yea, I'm pretty sure we've met at Diagon Alley. You were searching for school robes, am I right?" Y/N said and immediately felt embarrassed when she remembered that Theo called her 'Puff' in front of him.

"Oh I remember you brother called you uh um Puff?" he chuckled.

"Oh" she turned red and shook her head, sighing, "Please don't call me that. It's a stupid nickname my brother gave me."

"Sorry, what's your name?"

"I'm Y/N Scamander. It's nice seeing you again," she grinned.

"That's a beautiful name- wait- Scamander, as in Newt Scamander?" he asked with wide eyes but quickly wiped it away; the corner of his ears turning red.

"Yes," she laughed. "He's my father."

"I love his book 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'" he gave her a toothy grin.

"Thanks," she replied dumbfounded, "Um what's your name?"

"Remus Lupin, nice to see you too!"

The train started to move, and the door to their compartment was opened again, revealing a girl with auburn hair, a boy with black hair that was probably her companion walked away.

"Can I sit here? Everywhere else is full," she asked. Y/N and Remus nodded in response.

"I'm Lily Evans," the girl introduced herself with a smile.

"I'm Y/N Scamander and he is Remus Lu-" she didn't get to finish her sentence, as for once again, the door opened.

"Hello everyone! I'm Sirius Black-"

"And I'm James Potter," they both bowed down and sat on both sides of Remus, "You are?"

"Remus Lupin," he said looking confused.

"What about you two?" James asked, pointing to the redhead and (whatever describes you!)

"Lily Evans," "Y/N Scamander," both girls replied.

"James, I thought you were joking when you said you saw Newt Scamander on platform 9 3/4," Sirius stated with wide eyes.

"Now, now, Siri don't make her think we're freaks," James said, then he turned to her direction, "But for real though, you're related to the famous wizard!"

Y/N face was red: full off embarrassment, "Yes I guess so, he's my dad."

The rest of the train ride was Y/N being interrogated with questions from James and Sirius, and her constantly glancing at Remus and Lily for help; however, the two just sent sympathetic looks to girl while stiffing their laughters.
