15. Winter's Day

The snow fell from the dark sky creating a thick coat on Hogwarts' ground. The term has ended a few days ago, only a few peers stayed at the castle.

Y/N slept alone in her dormitory; everyone has left for Christmas break yesternight. Marlene made up her mind to stay over during winter to accompany Y/N, but she also has other reasons in mind.

Y/N stayed at Hogwarts so she could surprise Remus about her being an animagi during Christmas —as a gift— though Y/N has a gift for him separately.

She had to escort herself out of her dormitory since Lily wasn't there to drag her out every morning.

There are 4 trees— green, blue, yellow, and, red— representing each houses and a large one that was placed in the middle of the hall.

"Look who finally woke," Marlene said in her direction. She was sitting with the Marauders with Dorcas beside her. They were having a conversation before she came.

"First: you didn't wake me up. Second: I don't use alarms because I hate the sound," Y/N replied grimly as she sat down, receiving a kiss from her boyfriend (which the rest let out puking noises).

She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes while spreading her bread with jam and a knife.

"If you accidentally cut off your finger, I'm gonna laugh," Sirius said, his hair as messy as ever.

"Don't jinx it," replied she.

"Love, if you're tired you can sleep after breakfast," Remus suggested while rubbing her back soothingly.

"I'm not tired, I'm ok, fine, good, well," she trailed.

"No you're not ok fine good well," she rolled her eyes "you haven't ate breakfast yet!" Marlene said.

"Go eat and then we can do whatever we want," Dorcas chuckled.

Y/N sent the two girl a look. They have been with each other more often and Y/N heard so much about Dorcas from Marlene at night talks. Dorcas turned red as Marlene shush her up.

She piled her plate with foods; now the only thing in her mind is how she would tell Remus tomorrow that she is an unregistered animagus.

Y/N already finished the rest of the steps (with the help of The Marauders) and every night, she would practice transforming herself into an arctic fox. She tried a couple times —though it was excruciatingly painful— and she successfully turned into one. Now all she has to do is wait.

"Remus, I'm going to wrap presents now. See you in the morning!" she kissed him briefly and stood up from where she sat.

"Do you need help, love?" he asked.

"No, I don't want to give away what I got for you just yet"

"You got me a gift?" he asked.

"Of course I do!" she nodded "I do every year!"

"I know, and every year, you don't have to," he smiled feeling his heart melting. He loves presents from her but sometimes, he feels like he doesn't deserve it.

"You've been great to me and a best best friend and boyfriend so of course I got you!" she said, a small starlight reflected in her eyes, "I love you, Happy Christmas- eve?"

"I love you more, Puff, Happy Christmas eve," he said, connecting their lips together. He bit her bottom lips slightly; sending shivers down her spine.

"Don't call me Puff, please!" she mumbled in his mouth. Remus laughed and pull her to his chest before letting her go. He watched as she jogged up the stairs; her shadow faded slowly into the darkness.
