(Alex)
I’m done. I’m dead, goodbye cruel world. What was she talking about, ophio- thingy? I hope I get to say goodbye to Mary Ann, Violet also. I don’t know if I should trust her. She spoke weird and looked horrid, then again we all do. I think I might’ve broken my stitches, damn. And this happens right when I’m calm and happy again, of all times!
When I told her to follow me, she was visibly happy and relieved. Saying her hair was curly was an insult to the word. Zoe seemed to have half of her hair buzzed, but the other half was escaping from her beanie and springing away from the head. Zoe’s brown eyes reflected the green and sweat dropped from her whole body. The stream wasn’t far, maybe a five minute walk from here. Mary Ann…
“Hey, your name is Zoe, right? Well...um, we need to walk to the river. Mary Ann won’t want anyone going in looking as sweaty as you, no offense but you look like you’ve run for days.”
“You have no idea, Alec.” She quipped. Wait, Alec? Who the hell is Alec? I think she got my name wrong, wow.
“Just so you know, It’s Alex. Not Alec, understand?” I corrected quite sternly. Zoe is older than me, that I can tell just by looking at her. She apologizes and takes a dip in the river after undressing herself. I take this moment to remember that she has a birthmark on her butt that seriously looks like an octopus. When she redresses, Zoe is cleaner and smells better.
“I saw your ass.” I said in a burst of intelligence.
Zoes face was almost as red as my hair, “You weren't supposed to look!”
“But I did though.”
“Yeah!”
We finally get to the station and I open the door. “Hello Alex, welcome back! See, that is what I should be hearing. Uh, also I might have broken my stitches. Oops.”
Mary Ann rushes out of a back room, appearing angry.
“Didn’t I tell you not to leave?” She raised her voice at me. Not going to lie, I was terrified of this woman.
“Yes you did.” I replied like a child being scolded.
“And did you listen?”
“No I did not.” I felt like a toddler.
“And this lady is not Violet.” She said while pointing to Zoe.
“Oh wow. Ya don’t say?” I put my fingers to my chin and turned to Zoe while being a smartass. She glared lasers in my head and I was overcome with a sense of dread that only a mother can induce.
“You hoodlum, I will smack you 'cross the face. I swear to Jesus, you talk to me like that again and I will take that tongue and rip it out your face. You hear me?” She spoke with pure venom and now I see Blake slowly lowering himself behind the cashier desk.
