Espen growls at Josh, trying to nip his fingers. I grab my knife quickly and hold it to his throat in a threatening way, not killing him yet. "You will fucking lose. Do NOT call me purple again you disgusting fucking pervert!" I threaten. Scuff marks from us fighting are clear all over our faces, arms and knees.
"Cmon dear. Let him be." Mary says kindly. Irritated, I look back down at him. "You're lucky they're here, otherwise I would have killed you." I growl.
“Oh lighten up. I’m not even into you anyway.” The maggot says. He glanced at Alex for a split moment. He better fucking not go for her.
Disgusted, I step off of him. Not caring if he is wounded. I walked over to where we fought and picked up my bow, Espen following me closely, watching Josh cautiously. I raise my gaze and notice an old gas station. Josh gets up with more cuts from the fight. I ignore him completely. Heading towards the gas station, I put my knife away and ready my bow. Espen follows me closely. Tapping on the window to see if there is any infected inside. Looks clear. The others begin to follow me as I head in with Espen. There's a few granola bars on the shelves. Expired soda in the fridge. No water bottles.
I look down to notice Espen frightened but alert at something. Josh is with Mary and Alex by the granola bars, taking it to help with the rations. I look over to see what Espen's so worried about. I raise my bow quickly and aim it as the manager's office door cracks open. A pitbull steps out and the second it notices us it starts to growl and bark. It perks it's ears, quieting down when it looks over at me. Is it okay?
"Lola what's the ruckus about?" The man with dark blonde hair says as he opens the door and steps out. I quickly re aim my bow at him as he aims his rifle. Lola?Sounds familiar.
"Drop it." I snapped at him. He lowers his rifle slightly.
"Vi?.." He asks. That voice, I know that voice. I lower my bow to get a better look on who it is. Wait a minute Blake?!
"Blake?..." I ask, my voice cracking slightly. He was my best friend, we got separated before the world went to shit. I was starting to believe everyone I knew was dead. Even his pit bull Lola made it, she must have recognized me. When he puts away his rifle I drop my bow, run up to him and hug him. Gods I have missed him.
"Long time no see." He chuckles. "Yeh..heh.. Long time no see old buddy." I say as I step back. Espen sniffs his leg and he retreats to me. Blake looks down at him then at the others.
"So who's everyone?" Blake asks curiously. "This adorable fluff ball is Espen." I answer as I look down at Espen then at the others, pointing them out "That's Mary Ann, that's Alex, and that's asshole, also known as maggot." I continue, still annoyed with Josh.
"It's Josh," Josh corrects then complains,
"Come on he gets a fucking hug and I get a knife to the neck, that sounds fair." I ignore Josh once more. His outburst gets a giggle from Alex. They stare at each other.
"Can we stay here long enough to help Alex get back on her feet?" I ask Blake as I hug Lola. He nods. I hope Blake stays around and joins us. It's nice to see him again.
"Thank you." Mary Ann says as she closes the door so nobody sick can get in. Everyone settles down making themselves comfortable. I retrieve my bow.
"If anyone needs me.. I'll be on the roof." I say, Alex rests as Mary stays with her. Josh shrugs as he continues to look around. I walk out into the alleyway to find the ladder to the roof. Espen follows curiously.
Once I find it, I begin to climb then I pause a few steps up as Espen sits stranded at the bottom. I sigh and climb back down. I pick him up and carry him up the ladder to the roof. When we get to the top I gently set him down. I walk over to the front of the building and sit at the edge. Espen laying next to me, on my left side.
I try to tend to the scruffs and small cut wounds that I got when I fought Josh. Still fucking hate that maggot. I end up over thinking, I set my bow on the other side of Espen. Then I start to finish up tending my small wounds, I wonder how many of my other friends made it this far?
