3 months old

Haziran was breastfeeding Ayça in the nursery. She had moved the rocking chair away from the window so that the intense summer sunlight didn't directly hit on them. She was rocking the chair as she alternated her gaze from the baby to the opposite wall, and Zorba was resting at her feet, a little stunned by the hot weather. They had decided to paint the nursery in a soothing blue color and had chosen a wallpaper frieze with marine motifs, such as shells, starfishes and dolphins. At that moment, she was staring at the framed needlework her aunt had gifted them when Ayça was born: she had embroidered her full name on it —Ayça Aslı— along with her birthdate, the time she was born, her weight and size. She had also completed it with designs of a crib, a pacifier and a rattle. It was very cute.

—You've grown so much, bebeğim. —she smiled at the baby, who was observing her attentively with her wide eyes as she suckled— My pretty girl. —she added, and slid her index finger along her nose. The baby tried to catch her hand. Lately she was enjoying trying to grasp items. Then, Haziran heard a 'click' sound and both Zorba and her raised and turned their heads. The dog went back to his previous position after seeing it was just Poyraz— You'll get tired of taking our pictures. —Haziran said to him and he grinned.

—Don't think so. —he got close to them and the baby looked at him, then released Haziran's nipple and started moving her arms— Oh, I think she wants to be with her baba. —Poyraz placed his camera on the changing table and went back to hold and raise her in the air— Don't you, tatlım? —he asked in a baby voice and blew a raspberry on her tummy. Ayça opened her mouth and smiled, starting to babble— Do you like that? —he smiled broadly too and repeated it, and she continued babbling in delight, shaking her arms and legs.

—Don't move her around, Poyraz. —Haziran intervened, fixing her t-shirt— She just ate.

—I know. —Poyraz said and, after leaving a kiss on the baby's cheek, he put her against his body, her head on the hollow between his shoulder and neck. She wrapped her arm around his shoulder.

—I'm going to get changed. Will you put her down?

—Sure. —Haziran left the room and he remained there, walking around as he whispered into the baby's ear and hummed a song.

Half an hour later, Haziran went to open the entrance door.

—She's already asleep, come on in. —Zeynep entered the house and at that moment Poyraz showed up in the hall, coming out of the bathroom.

Selam. —he smiled at her.

Selam, oğlum. How are you?

—I'm fine. —Haziran interrupted them.

—C'mon, anne, I don't want to be late. —she urged her and started going up the stairs. Zeynep and Poyraz followed her to the nursery, and the first one leaned to observe the sleeping baby with a smile.

—This girl gets prettier every day. —she stated.

—She does. —Poyraz agreed, looking at the baby with a smile too.

—I don't think she'll wake up before we're back. —Haziran intervened and started to rattle off— She's sleeping a lot during the night these days. If you need to change her, the diapers are there. —she indicated with a nod of her head— If she starts crying and you can't calm her down, call me. We're bringing the car so we can be back here soon enough. If you go downstairs, don't forget to bring along the baby monitor... —her mom interrupted her.

—You already told me all those things on the phone, Haziran. Don't worry, I'll stay here next to her crib all the time. I already had dinner so I'll just move to go to the bathroom. I brought a book to entertain myself.
