Winter's pov:

I just moved into New York city to start a new chapter in my life. Hopefully a good one. My past is... difficult to say the least. As I'm sure everyone's is. But I'll go into detail about my past later.

I had just moved from my home state, Virginia, to New York. I moved when the air started to get more chilly as it got closer to winter. It was cold enough for a light sweater, but not cold enough for a coat. I usually don't mind the cold. But since I don't have any heat in my one bedroom apartment, I'm starting to loath it.

Let out a heavy sigh, as I look around the apartment. So many unopened boxes that I have no energy to unpack. There's not that many, really. I'd just rather not at the moment. And then I look at the furniture I lack. No couch. No bed frame. Knowing how much I have in my account, I know I can't invite anyone over for a while. And I'll have to sleep closer to the floor then what I'm use to.

It's currently 11:38, and I haven't had my coffee yet. Coffee is my medicine. A cup a day keeps the police away, is what I like to say. So, I looked on Google to see where there was one nearby and it was just a block away with over 4 stars and a lot of good reviews on yelp.

I grabbed my sweater, the temperature is 48, pruse and locked up and started heading over there from my run down apartment building, to a newer nicer building. I shouldn't complain too much. The landlord was nice enough to make my rent cheap until the second month of my stay. Now that I think about it though, they probably cut my heater because of it. Oh well. At least I love blankets and sweaters.

As I approached the coffee shop, I didn't seem take notice of the several black cars of different makes in front of the shop. I was so desperate for coffee and just headed in. But what I saw... stopped me dead in my tracks.

There was no one in here but men dressed in dark suits. They went dead silent when I walked in and all eyes were on me, including the staff. "Uhhh... I've sensed I made a wrong turn. I was looking for the off the walls cafe shop?" I asked the brasita.

I didn't look at the men staring me down. I knew they were trouble. It was like they had a neon flashing sign on their backs saying "trouble".

"N-no. You're at the right place. What can I get for ya?" The young brasita member asked nervously.

"Just a caramel Frappuccino with whip cream and cinnamon powder on it, please Mr...?"

"Jace. Sure thing. Give me 5 minutes." He looked back at the group of men, like he was pleading with them to be patient while he hurriedly went to the back to make my drink.

It was still silent and I was very uncomfortable. I shifted my weight, fiddled with my fingers and looked everywhere else but them while waiting for my drink. I could feel their eyes burning through me. Can they not looking somewhere else?

Soon, one of the men put large sum of cash on the table and got up. "Grazie jace. Fino alla prossima volta." With that they all got up and headed out.

It didn't take long for me to realize he was speaking Italian. I didn't understand what he said, but my aunt spoke Italian, that's why I recognized it.

I knew they were leaving because of me. Hopefully they would leave me alone. I side stepped to get out of their way, since I haven't moved much from the door. The last one to go out was the one that spoke.

I couldn't help but look at him. And as I did I felt the power raidating off of him. My eyes never left his as his stayed on mine. They were so dark it sent shivers down my spine. I noticed he had a tattoo on his left hand disappearing up his sleeve. A part of me wanted to look away, but it was if I was mesmerized. By what, I'm not exactly sure.

Just as he was walking past me, I finally was able to break eye contact and look away. I felt like a little kid standing next to him cause he's much taller than I am.

I still felt his eyes on me and heard him whisper something walking past towards his vehicle.
"Bellissima..."

Again, I didn't understand what he said, but I had my suspicions that it had something to do with beauty.

After they left, Jace gave me my drink. "Here you go miss. On the house."

"Are you sure? I-" I began to protest.

He held his hand up and smiled. "It's all right miss. You're new to town. This is my way of saying, welcome." He paused, letting his face drop from his smile and into a worried look. "And be careful."

"Thank you, Jace." I said goodbye and left. I knew exactly what he meant by that. There's trouble in this city. I just saw it. I just need to keep my head down.

What I didn't know, is that, that was the mafia. They owned this city and probably much more. They meet at the shop for the coffee and to discuss business. I interrupted them and caught the attention of one. And he wanted me.

Nicolas' pov:

My men and I were talking business. It's been a long couple days. Another Mafia wants war with me, and I'm not in the mood for that right now. With mom getting sick and my sister has her new baby, who is on life support right now. The baby didn't come out breathing. They got his heart to go again, but they had to put him on life support. It's been a stressful time, not just for my immediate family, but for the Mafia. They're family too.

I was looking at my phone while listening to the guys talk when they went dead silent.

"Uhhh... I've sensed I made a wrong turn. I was looking for the off the walls cafe shop?" A young female voice said.

I frowned and looked up and saw a young girl, early 20's, stand by the door. I've never seen her around and I could tell she was nervous. She could sense we were trouble.

She had beautiful light skin, with dark long curly brown hair. I just wanted to run my hands through it an-

"No. You're at the right place. What can I get for ya?" Jace, the staff member, interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back to reality.

"Just a caramel Frappuccino with whip cream and cinnamon drizzled on it, please Mr...?" She asked sweetly. God her voice...

"Jace. Sure thing. Give me 5 minutes." He left to go make her coffee right away. I didn't have to look at him to tell he was worried for her.

I watched her fidget with her fingers. Shift her weight from side to side. She was uncomfortable, but I wanted to hug her and tell it was okay.

There were feelings I have never felt before that rose inside me at the sight of her. The need to love, the need to protect, the need hold her and never let go. Why was I feeling this way?

"Grazie jace. Fino alla prossima volta." I said after dropping a large sum of cash on table. I needed to leave now before I made her mine right then and there.

I got up, and so did my men. I let them go out first. As I was following them, my eyes never left hers, as hers stayed on mine. They were so captivating. Her right eye was as blue as the ocean. And her left eye was a dark chocolate brown.

She's breathtaking. Never in my life has a woman made me feel this way. No one, made me feel this way.

I noticed her shy away from me and looked down just before I come to pass her. She's so tiny compared to me.

"Bellissima..." I couldn't help but breathe it out.

I got into the back seat of my car just amazed. I need to know why I want- no... need her. I don't even know her name. But I will find out. I always do. And I always, Always, get what I want. And I want her.
