Nicloas' pov:

Everything has gone perfectly. The sun is setting, giving us a purple, pink and orange sky. The temperature was warm, but comfortable. When the breeze came through, it moved her hair in front of her face, making her constantly struggle to keep it away from her face. I couldn't help but laugh at her fustration.

"It's not funny." She scowled.

"I'm sorry. You're just funny when you're frustrated."

Ever since I was a kid, I always kept hair ties on my wrist. Always just in case a girl needed one. Bella told me it's a better idea than handkerchiefs. And she was right. Like normal.
So, I took it off my wrist and handed it to her.

"Thanks." She smiled, but confused.

We already had dinner. I had steak and vegetables, and she had lasagna. I've come to realize that pasta is her favorite food.

"It's beautiful tonight." She said after putting her hair up. "Does this place have special meaning?"

I nodded. "Yes. My father took my mother out to dinner about a year or so after their arranged marriage. They didn't really like each other in the beginning, but mama said that something changed between them. She didn't go into details, but this was their first official date that wasn't forced. They went to... kinda start over. And ever since then, this has been our family's place. Mama took dad here when she found out she was pregnant for me. This place has always been reserved for special occasions." I explained, feeling happy about what the occasion is tonight.

"So," she looked at me, her arms placed on the table as she leaned forward with curiosity in her face. "If that's the case... what's the special occasion tonight?"

I smiled, taking a deep breath to prepare myself. "I will always regret of how I handle things in the beginning. I acted impulsively. But I couldn't help it at the same time. I wanted you close. You drew something out of me." I took a sip of the Joel Gott red wine to help with my dry mouth.

"What was it?"

"Life." I stated simply. She gave me a confused look, which I would to if I was told that. So I continued. "Before we met, I was having trouble feeling... alive. I was honestly contemplating killing myself." I saw her lips part slightly and her eyebrows frown in worry. "I felt empty, and only good for one thing. Killing." I started fidgeting with the dirty napkin on the table. "My heart felt dull. And even thought I had my brother, my sister and my mother, it was still difficult." My chest became heavy and I closed my eyes. I've never told this to anyone. I've never even opened myself up this much to anyone.

Suddenly, I felt weight in my lap. I opened my eyes and saw my beautiful winter. She looked at me with worry. She placed her hand on my cheek and caressed it, making me lean on her warm soft hand that smelled rosy. I felt something happen that hasn't happened in front of anyone. Ever. I was always told that it would make me weak. But I didn't care right now. I don't care that I feel a tear escape my eye and my love wipe it away with her soft thumb.

"It's ok now." She whispered.

I wrapped my arms around her waist to bring her closer to me. I laid my head down on her shoulder and sighed.

"I'm not sure how or why, but..." I lifted my head back up to look it her unique eyes. "When I saw you, heck, even when I heard your voice, somehow I felt something. I felt alive and when I felt that, I didn't want that one thing, or you, to disappear. And as I got to know you more, you gave me more than a reason to live. You give me a reason to smile, to laugh, to cry, to hold and protect. Even a reason to come home. And I know that sounds like wedding vows, but it's not. I promise." We both chuckled.
"I became a happy man when you promised to give me a chance. Despite knowing who I am and what I've done." I removed my right arm and grazed my hand across her cheek. "You've become everything to me in these last two months. The thought of losing you destroys me. Winter..." I paused, and leaned closer. "I love you."
