About four weeks have passed, and Elk was getting things together for him and Adalie to return back home today, and he hears Adalie walk in, humming. He smiles at her and kisses her cheek gently, "Everything is almost packed up." She nods and looks away, more quiet than usual and that gets Elk a bit worried, "Are you alright? What's the matter?" He gently cups her chin and makes her look at him, "What's wrong?" She walks to the fireplace and sits down, watching the embers on the logs and Elk sits by her and hugs her, "You're scaring me Adalie, what's going on?" She looks at the floor, "I don't mean to...I'm just nervous to tell you, that's all...I'm not trying to scare you..." She leans against him a bit and he holds her close, petting her head, "Why don't you want to tell me?" She looks at her hands, "I don't know how you're going to react..." She feels him kiss her head and she takes a deep breath, turning to him, "I...I think I'm..." She shuts her eyes tight, and finally finds her voice, "I think I might be pregnant!"
There was a small silence, and Adalie gasps when she was pulled fast and sees Elk hugging her tight, a big smile on his face. She looks up at him, "You're...you're okay with it? You're not mad or anything?" He looks at her, "Why would I be mad? Don't you remember our little talk?" She smiles a bit, "Oh yeah, that talk. I thought you would be in shock because of how soon it is and like it's only been four weeks and stuff and-" "Why would I be upset? We're having a baby!" He hugs her again tight and she giggles, "Okay easy now, papa. Take it easy." He releases her and they both smile at each other, Adalie then noticing Elk's tail seemed to be wagging, "Is your tail wagging?" He looks at it, and he tries to hide it, "No." She laughs and hugs him, "Aww." Elk hugs her back, and they share a kiss together.
He stands up and helps her up as well, "So when do you want to tell your parents? When we get back? When we see them? At dinner? The next day? When?" Adalie chuckles, "We do want it to be a surprise. How about we tell them...hm, maybe around dinner if we get there around that time?" Elk nods, "Sounds like a plan." After finish packing, Adalie feels Elk hug her again, and she giggles as he starts cuddling her, "Goodness Elk. Aren't you extra cuddly today?" They lay together on the bed and he nuzzles her top abdomen and she giggles, "I don't know if the baby is going to grow there." Elk smiles, "I'm just so happy we're having a baby together." Adalie smiles and she holds him close as he wraps his arms around her waist.
