Artemis
The bright midday sun shone down in the grassy plains, bringing with it, a wave of heat and humidity. The sky was a deep blue and littered aross it were white, fluffy clouds and a flock of birds that were passing by. I laid on my back on the grass, surrounding me were colourful flowers and bushes full of ripe tasty berries.
I was wearing a yellow and red sundress and my hair was hanging down my back in a neat braid. Turning my head to the side I picked a flower and held it under my nose, deeply inhaling the sweet aroma and admiring its vibrant crimson color.
Sitting on my knees I tucked it behind my ears and laid back on the grass with a contented sigh. There was no one with me, I was all alone with just my thoughts and nature to keep me company. Absorbing the tranquility of the afternoon, I was at peace, not wishing this wonderful day to end.
All of a sudden I felt a few sprinkles of water splash onto my face and gasped out of shock at the abrupt coldness. Turning quickly around I looked at the crystal clear stream behind me, just in time to see a yellow fin disappear under the surface.
Crawling on my hands and knees to the water's edge I peered in and saw a small fish swimming lazily in the shallows. A smile made its way onto my face and I dipped a hand in to touch it but it swam away the instant my fingers made contact with the water.
I laughed, wishing I could touch his glistening scales and see what they felt like. There was still water on my face so I took out my handkerchief to wipe it off. When I looked back into the water I was startled to see a menacing face staring at me with cold, angry eyes. Turning around I saw that it was Deirdre Lovelace.
"Luna Deirdre, w...what are you doing here?" I stammered.
"This is my territory Artemis, I live here. It is you whom I should be asking that question," she said pointedly.
"Your territory? But this isn't Golden Sun, it's Crimson Blood. This is my territory,""Is it? I thought Marcus lived in Shining Cosmos Pack, seeing as how you're his mate, that's where you belong,"
My eyes widened and my heartbeat quickened when she mentioned this. "Marcus is not my mate. Dimitri is my mate,""No he's not, Dimitri is my mate,"
Looking beyond Deirdre's shoulder I saw a she wolf with hazel brown eyes, honey blonde hair and a slim figure. I gasped as I recognized her as Deidre's daughter Isabelle. But...Rupert killed her, how could she be alive? When my gaze landed on the male wolf whose arms were so lovingly wrapped around her, my mouth went dry and my eyes sting with tears.
Dimitri...My Dimitri.
"There's my son-in-law, did you and Roman enjoy your run with Isabelle and Isla?" Deirdre asked affectionately.
"Yes we did Mom, it was wonderful. So much so that we took the liberty of... mating by the lake," Isabelle giggled.I felt sick to my stomach when I heard this. Utterly sick.
"Why is she here?" Isabelle asked shooting me a venomous glare.
"I don't know sweetheart, she must've run away from Marcus again. I'd better inform him," Deirdre said taking out her phone.
"Marcus is not my mate! He rejected me! Dimitri is my mate," I sobbed as I ran to Dimitri and hugged him around his waist. "Dimitri tell them, tell them you're my mate! Tell them!"Looking down at me as though I were the strangest thing, Dimitri shoved me off of him and I staggered backwards.
"I don't know what delusional thoughts you must be having, but you're not my mate. My mate is Isabelle," he stated harshly.
