Spencer's POV
"Fuck!" I yell as I watch Olivia peel away. "I told you to leave!"
"Oh you're upset because your little girlfriend drove off?" She says back and I shake my head no in the middle of the street. "You don't give a fuck about how I'm feeling, huh?"
"I'm upset because you're causing a scene! You should've called if you wanted to talk!" I tell her.
"You caused all of this, Spencer!" She yells in my face and I back away. "I don't hear from you in forever. And the minute I come by, you're with another girl."
The reason I haven't spoken to her in a while is because of Olivia. It was one thing for our relationship to be a toxic mess when it was just between us. But it's even less appealing to me, after adding Olivia to the equation. So I decided to avoid her for as long as I could.
"I've been busy!"
"Yeah, busy being a stereotype! Bet you got a real thrill out of fucking me and her! Bet you called home to brag to your friends! Bravo, Spencer! Bravo!" She says sarcastically.
"That ain't me! I wouldn't brag about having sex with any girl." I say and she sucks her teeth. "Can we just talk about this?"
"Make up your mind, Spencer. First you want me to leave. Now you want to talk!" She says loudly.
Truthfully, I wanted her to leave when I thought Olivia was staying. But now I'm ready to rid Yonni out of my life and set some much needed boundaries between us.
"Since you're here, we should talk!" I say sincerely and she stops pacing long enough to listen. "I appreciate everything you've done for me. And I appreciate what we shared. I just don't see a future with—-"
WHAM! The sound of her hand to the left side of my face is loud and it stings.
"Really, nigga? After all the shit I did for you, you're about to tell me there's no future for us! Fuck you!" She yells and I hold the side of my face until I start to get the feeling back.
"C'mon Yonni, let's be real. We were just a wreck, looking for some place to happen!" I say and her hardened demeanor softens at my words. "I mean, look at us right now!"
"A wreck?—- really, Spencer?" She asks and I know that was harsh, but it's exactly how I feel about our situation. "If we were a wreck, it's because you never even tried to make it work between us."
"You want me to lie to you? Or do you want the truth? I liked you—- I really did. I thought you were everything I was looking for. But truthfully, coming here, I didn't really know what I was looking for. And instead of being honest, I kept my mouth shut. I did the bare minimum. And I thought it was okay because you accepted it." My words are calm and long overdue.
"So basically, I'm good enough for sex, but not good enough to be your girlfriend? Well, at least you're finally manning up and telling me the truth, instead of avoiding it!"
"It's not like that," I tell her and she removes the hand I have placed on her wrist to prevent her from walking away. "I need you to listen."
"I thought I was giving you a few days to get your shit together. But I guess I just gave you an opening to be the dog you were always destined to be." She tells me loudly.
"Calm down!" I plead with her but she's too fired up to hear me.
"Calm down? Calm down? Doesn't matter where y'all are from, all men do the same lame shit! Suck a good girl dry and hop in the next pretty girl's face when it's convenient to them."
I rub down the length of my face in disappointment. "You know it's not even like that with me, Yonni. I appreciate everything you've done for me. Why are you acting like we can't still be friends?"
