Spencer's POV
"Go get the big nail gun from the truck," Shawn yells down from the rooftop of the shambled garage.
I walk to the driveway and stop by the truck as I notice Colson and a few guys standing on his patio with a camera, listening to blaring music.
"You would think with this big ass house, he'd be filming music videos from more than a cell phone." My boss, Skip, grumbles, and I chuckle before seeing the front door open.
Olivia appears with a bright smile as he grabs her by the waist and they sway to the music for a few extra second or two.
She's not moving the way she did last night. I even notice her smile isn't as bright as before.
I try to stop staring when I notice her walking off of the porch and directly towards where I'm standing.
I clear my throat as she walks past and she, purposely, doesn't look my way.
"Where you headed?" I question, boldly. And disregard the fact that we're about thirty yards from her boyfriend and his camera-thirsty friends.
"I have to go," she tells me and I cut my eyes slightly behind her to see Colson still making his video.
"I can't even get a hello?"
"Hello!" She says dismissively before opening the car door of a black BMW.
"Ayo!" Colson yells from the patio. "Bring back some rubbers too."
"A store run?" I ask and she nods.
"Let me guess, you wouldn't let me go to the store either?" She asks smartly.
"Not alone—-," I answer seriously and she probably won't agree.
"I'm grown."
"Oh—- I can see that!" I respond as I take a long look from her eyes down to her feet. "But my reason for not letting you go to the store alone wouldn't be a matter of whether you're grown or not. It would be because I wouldn't want to spend a second, minute, hour or day without you."
My words leave my tongue, but I follow her eyes and I can see her studying the movement of my mouth.
"Look, last night, the dance was just a dance." She tells me and I'm not sure if I believe her, but l I can't debate. "My girls and I pre-gamed and I took it too far."
"Who was talking about last night?" I ask and she nods before rolling her eyes with a small smirk.
"I was just letting you know."
"Go get the rubbers," Colson yells louder. "Oh yeah, and grab batteries. These piece of shit cameras are always dead."
I watch as he knocks over a security camera, on their porch, in frustration and walks away.
"He should try using rechargeable batteries," I suggest.
"I guess he's just an idiot with shitty security cameras," she whispers, making me laugh as she starts to close the door.
"See you when you get back," I say, knowing she can't hear me as she pulls off.
I grab the nail gun and walk back towards the construction area.
"Took you long enough man," Shawn yells, and Skip walks over to where I'm standing.
"I know she's pretty but she's clearly taken," he says and I fan him off.
"I'm not forcing her to talk to me," I respond and he gets even more frustrated.
"If you mess this job up for us, you're going to wish you would've stopped her from talking to you," Skip responds seriously.
