PARI POV
I was tensed.
After a week passed away peace between us, I suddenly remembered something rather important. Very very important considering that we've been doing it many times in this entire month. I mean, 4 weeks had already passed since I met him and it had been more than 2 weeks since we first had... You know... Since he turned me into a woman. But now, as I waited for my periods to come... They just wouldn't come! I mean, at least ever since I have turned 18, neither have I ever skipped my periods nor have they ever been irregular and as I sat on the toilet, thinking about how or what could have happened that they hadn't come even 3 days late now, I could not come onto anything good.
" PARI!? Are you done yet!? I need to!!!!"
" NO! Go to the other washroom na!" and that idiot. He couldn't even let me think in peace! I mean, here I was dying out of anxiety and worry and there he was, getting himself relieved. And I wanted to tell him but I was so sure that he would freak out for no reason and if I wasn't pregnant. What then? It would all be useless of fighting na. I mean, I had dated him only for 3 weeks at that point and he had made it pretty sure in those few weeks of a matter of time that he wasn't ready for a kid yet. But if I really were to be pregnant?...?" PARI! Pch. Where is your head?! You'll get your hand burned like this!" and maybe I got a little deep in thinking about all that. Maybe it was just stress that caused my period to not come. But I couldn't get that one feeling out of my bones.
" What were you thinking?"
" Nothing. Nothing at all," and it was hard to look into his eyes and lie so, I took my hand back before he could hold my hand to inspect it but that one action made him doubt everything that was going on with me
" Ok. No. There is definitely something going on here... What is it?" he was serious and when he held my chin, making me look up at him, I gulped in fear. If I told him, I was sure that he would bash at me for no reason. But shouldn't he know? He should... And once I made up my mind, I opened my mouth
" I need to talk to you about something," I caught his shirt lightly, and when I said that, he sighed and nodded his head
" Yeah, sure," and I had just opened my mouth when his phone began ringing... Well... Cool safe." 1 minute," he picked it up and began smiling softly as he looked up at the phone camera. I was guessing that it was his mother...
" Appa?"
" Your amma just asked me to call you to tell you that we'll send you pictures from the chariot ceremony today,"
" What? No," his smile came off his face, " I told amma! It's dangerous outside. Appa!"
" Have you ever listened to me that you want me to now listen to you!?! It's God's work! Just because you and your generation has some stupid thoughts I will not change the pratha!"
" It's not about something stupid! Appa!" he began shouting at his own father as he walked away from me and I almost sighed in relief when I found him going away from me. His fight kept aside, I still could be pregnant..." AND I TOLD YOU PEOPLE 2 TIMES!? DON'T YOU GET IT!? IT'S DANGEROUS OUTSIDE!"
" Accha! So now you have become so big that you can talk to your Appa. Huh?!" but this time, I saw something different happen. Rather than removing all his anger on his father and shouting at his old man, Sohit threw his phone down in anger and screamed loudly. Was he trying to get his frustration out somehow? I couldn't understand but I surely felt scared when I saw him walk out of the place in anger" SOHIT?! AYE! SOHIT!?" and his poor father was still on the line... I felt bad. So, while he locked himself in a room, I picked up his cracked phone and looked at the screen with worry
" Uncle... Sohit... He just got a meeting notification,"
" You don't have to lie to me, Pari," I hadn't really met his father as such but I had talked to him a few times before, and from what I had seen, his father was a good person. I'm sure that they only had some misunderstanding between them...
" Uncle... It really is dangerous outside,"
" What nonsense?! A true man-"
" Uncle, please... My aunt just died because of Covid and my parents were even admitted to the hospital. It's a miracle they are still alive but really. I'm sure. If something were to happen to you or anyone in your family na, Sohit wouldn't be able to process it at all. He was even so moved when my parents went to the hospital and he might not be able to communicate it well but all he wants is for you guys to be safe... Please listen to him this one time," I pleaded with his father and although there was silence between both of us for sometime, he finally did clear his throat and nod his head
" Ok. Tell him that we won't be going to the pratha this year,"
