Tangled inspired AU. Angie is on the run when she comes across a tower she thought was abandoned, but ends up discovering more than she bargained for.
----

Angie was too young to remember all the details of what happened when it had actually happened, but she knew it wasn't good. Because of it, her and her friends were kept inside for weeks. The kingdom was too scared to let the children out of their sight for even a moment, afraid that they would be taken away as well.

All she knew then was that a young girl was taken from her home, but as she grew older she learned about the lost princess. How she had been asleep in her crib when someone had come through the window and taken her away from the King and Queen. It terrified her and her friends. The one responsible had never been found.

Now a young adult, Angie walked by the painted mural on one of the walls in the kingdom marketplace. She ducked close into the shadow of the wall when castle guards passed by, narrowing her eyes at them. She watched them go before glancing up at the painting.

It depicted the King and Queen holding their baby, who would be somewhere around Angie's age by now. That is, if she was still alive. Her and most of her friends agreed that there was no possible way the princess could still be alive. They had no proof, but that's what they believed.

"Angie! Run!" Maddy, one of her long time friends shouted as she ran out of one of the marketplace stores, tossing a bag into Angie's hands as their other friend, Bosco, followed quickly behind, grabbing a couple other things outside and shoving them into a bag.

Oh yeah, Angie and her friends were also not exactly rich. Or as others would say, they were thieves.

Angie caught the bag and ran beside Maddy down the busy marketplace street, Bosco catching up to them as the store owners yelled behind them.

"Stop them! They're getting away!"

The yelling caught the attention of the castle guards, and Angie looked over her shoulder to see two of them running in their direction. She panicked, holding onto the bag in her hands.

"We're going to have to split up-" Angie said quickly as they ran to the nearest kingdom wall, swinging the bag over her shoulder. "They're going to catch us if we don't-"

"Blame Bosco, we could've gotten out of here with no problems if she wouldn't have taken so long-" Maddy huffed and jumped onto one of the ledges of the wall, pulling Angie up behind her.

"There was still stuff I wanted!" Bosco glared as she climbed up beside them, quickly grabbing onto the next ledge.

The yelling from the guards grew louder as Angie climbed to the top of the wall beside her friends. She tried to catch her breath once they were up, until more of them starting charging towards them from the top of the wall.

Angie's eyes widened before she looked down over the edge, heart racing. She was somewhat excited for the suspense. They've almost been caught and had been chased before, but never by the castle guards. Even if their wanted signs were plastered all over the kingdom.

"We're gonna have to jump-" Maddy said as she backed up, getting a running stop before jumping over the edge and landing in a soft patch of leaves. Bosco followed after her, and Angie waited for the guards to get closer before jumping herself.

She squeaked when she came in contact with the leaves on the ground. Maddy and Bosco had pulled themselves up already, and she jumped in surprise when they grabbed her arms and pulled her behind them, running into the dense forest in front of them.

Oh yeah, they also didn't exactly live in the kingdom anymore.

"They're still following!" Bosco said in a panic, trying to keep herself running. "What do we do?"
