GiGi blasts the radio music, shouting each and every word to a catchy pop song while driving down the road. Thankfully, there are only a few vehicles in sight.

"Where should we go first?" She has a content and bubbly smile, turning down the volume of the radio and waiting for my answer.

"Why don't you pick? I'm not from around here, so I wouldn't have any clue." To be completely honest, I don't even know where I am. If it was mentioned, I forgot it while being shoved into this situation.

"Well, we're getting closer to Emeryville," she mentions, and my eyes widen with unbelief.

"California?" I ask, and she just nods.

I haven't heard a whole lot about this place, but I have heard rumors it's dangerous. Why in the hell would anyone want to go somewhere that's dangerous—or at least if there are rumors of danger, then still why? For the thrill of it?

Although I'm nervous, I try not to think about it. From what I've heard, they are just rumors from old headaches. Who knows, maybe the rumors are wrong on this one.

"Let's go shopping. I have this dress I've been dying to buy for the past week." When her foot presses down on the gas pedal, I suddenly grab the handle of the car door and my seatbelt while she screams with the wind blowing through her long hair.

I've always been a little scared about driving in vehicles with the roof off, but for some odd reason, she makes the fear go away. Maybe it's just her happy personality that makes my fear disappear, and I'm fine with it, at least for now.

When she parks the fancy vehicle on the side of the busy street, we both step out of the car and look around at the buildings surrounding us. I see plenty of shops to go into, and honestly, this place is perfect for a quick disappearance.

The city isn't as big as I wish, but hopefully, no one will come after me. I mean, I'm just one woman, so there's no reason to track me down, right?

"This is the store. Let's hurry so that we can explore the city together." Without warning, she takes my hand while rushing into the small store before us.

"There's nothing like a massive shopping spree to feel alive." She sighs with content while placing the multiple shopping backs in the back seat of the vehicle. Although I insisted I didn't need anything, she bought a few clothing items just for me, which I have to admit is very generous.

However, it's not like I'll be the one wearing them. When I make my great escape, she'll have them for herself.

"It's lunch, right?" She asks once locking the vehicle and turning down the sidewalk with her hand over her eyes to block the bright sun.

She looks in both directions while biting her lip with a tad of frustration. "You know what? You're picking," she comes to my side and slips her arm between mine while pulling me along in one direction.

"I'm fine—"

"No, you can't be fine. You haven't eaten since earlier. You can't lie to me, Ada," her words take me off guard. "I'm hungry, so I know you are. Plus, I'm paying, so there's no reason not to." Her smile is contagious, and I find myself smiling just a tad.
