I was clueless by what he meant at the store. How could he possibly be lonely when he has a mansion full of dozens of beautiful women who admire him? I can't wrap my head around it.

The whole time we're in line to checkout, we don't say a word. He keeps his eyes forward, waiting to be the next person waited on, and that's all.

He doesn't say any more about what he meant, and I don't ask. Other than me not caring, it's none of my business whatsoever.

Once we leave the store building and walk to his vehicle, he pulls out his key and unlocks the car. Once we come closer, I slide inside the passenger seat with the bag in my hands, while he rushes around the other side and climbs in.

"Since we're in public already, let's go get something to eat," he says while cranking the engine.

"Eat? I'm fine, and besides, someone needs these," I hold up the bag, reminding him of why we came.

He just nods his head. "We'll drop it off first, and then come back."

I can already tell he's not taking no for an answer.

"Why?" Although I'm pretty sure I know the answer, I just want to make sure.

"Because I'm hungry?" He says it as if it's more of a question than an answer.

"Okay, but why do I have to be there?"

When he puts the vehicle in drive, he laughs as if it's obvious. "It would be weird not to be eating out with my fiancée, right? Don't get your panties twisted here. I'm just trying to show the world that I'm now taken." The one time I think he's trying to be decent, he ruins it.

Scoffing, I roll my eyes and turn my attention to the other side of the window. "Whatever, but if I'm forced to come, I'm eating as much as I want." If I have no say, then I might as well enjoy it to my fullest content. After all, he's going to be the one paying anyway.

The waitress guides us near the back of the room where the best spot in the restaurant is located. No doubt Taehyung wanted everyone's eyes on us.

"This is going to be perfect," he mumbles underneath his breath once the waitress shows us to our table. "It's not late at night and not too crowded."

"What do you mean? What evil plan are you creating?" I ask while sitting down and grabbing the fancy menu.

"This is where we're going to do it," Taehyung admits. "The whole world doesn't know we're a couple yet, nor about the engagement, so this is perfect. We'll reenact it right here for everyone to see—"

"You mean we'll do it for the first time here. You never proposed before," I smirk with a tad of wickedness once he darts his eyes my way with an ounce of irritation.

"Yes, for the first time," he admits, even though he doesn't want to. He pulls out a black engagement ring box from his pocket and urges for my hand.

I roll my eyes annoyed and take the ring on my finger off by myself, then hand him the ring to put inside the box.

"So how are we going to do this?" I whisper over the table right before the waitress comes back with a bottle of wine. I notice him quickly shove the box back into his pocket before she can see.

"Thank you," Taehyung speaks to her while she pours the wine in both of our glasses. Once she leaves, he speaks again. "What do you mean?"

"You know," I urge, but it's obvious he doesn't follow. I sigh quietly and explain. "The proposal, Taehyung. How are you going to do it? Slip the ring in my glass," I pause to swirl the drink that's in my palm. "Or the I dropped my fork routine, then when I look down, you're on one knee. Oh, maybe you could just ask casually, then start getting on your knee and hope everyone sees, while you're confessing your undying love to me."

"Undying love?" He practically busts out laughing. "You wish," he takes a sip of his drink. "No one in their right mind would marry you—"

"Yet you're about to ask for my hand. I suppose you might be a little crazy then." I laugh this time, but he says nothing, just keeps quiet.

My eyes turn a shade of unease when he starts standing. "What are you doing? Sit down, we haven't gone over the plan—"

"Excuse me!" Taehyung raises his voice just a tad to where everyone in the entire restaurant can hear. Suddenly, everyone's eyes are on the two of us. More than anything, I want to crawl underneath the table and hide.

"I have a special announcement I would like to share with everyone today," he begins speaking just as calmly as ever.

"I'm sure some of you may know me or perhaps you don't. In case you're wondering, I'm Kim Taehyung," although I hear him announcing himself in a cringy way, some people in the room look at him with pure admiration, maybe even love.

"I'm here today with my beautiful girlfriend. We haven't seen each other in months due to work. I'm proud to finally come out to the public and admit that I'm in a relationship now." He turns away from the onlookers and directs his eyes towards me.

Suddenly, he outstretches his hand in my direction. "Ada," he says my name just a tad above a whisper and looks at me with a sweetness I've never seen before in a man.

Hesitantly, I slide my hand over his and stand up from the table.

"This woman, most gorgeous and radiant of all my girls, is the one for me, and I hope, she'll let me be the one for her." Now, when he starts lowering himself to the ground and gets on one knee, I can hear the loud gasps from all around the room.

And for a moment, I have to admit, even my heart stops. Not because of him, but the situation itself is something I never got to experience with my ex. The long months of lies proved that he would never marry me, yet I wished for it so much.

So when Taehyung grabs my hand, and my tears start rolling down my cheeks, I know that I'm not completely fine after everything with my ex. He still haunts me, and it seems he will for a long time.

Once he asks for my hand, I nod my head because I don't dare speak and let him have the advantage of hearing me in such a weak state.

Sliding the ring on my finger, hearing the claps around the room, and even the sound of a freshly popped bottle in the background disappears completely when his sudden action takes me off guard.

Right then and there, his lips press right against me, and he holds me softly in his arms for everyone to witness. His eyes are shut, and his fingers are laced into mine.

Even though I realize it's just the moment, I cling to the kiss to forget the pain of my broken heart.
