"I do, Ricky. I love you." Nini said, confidently.

"...Oh." Ricky breathed out, and Nini felt her heart stop.

"Oh?" She asked, almost choking on her words. She didn't even pay attention to Ricky's next words, she only watched how he got up from her bed: slow and hesitant. He walked over to her door, opening it softly, barely making a noise. She could barely hear a thing as he closed the door.

"I'll... I'll text you." He said, and that was the last she heard from him.

Maybe it was too soon. Maybe telling someone you love them over Instagram for the first time wasn't the best idea. Maybe it was a waste of time, and maybe she didn't really mean it. It felt like the next right step for their relationship, but maybe they were too young.

All she really knew is that Ricky Bowen took a piece of her heart when he left her room that day, and she's not sure if she'll ever get it back.
