You had a month of living peacefully in the glade. Normal jobs, normal everything. When Teresa said "I'm coming for you" she really meant it. She kept trying to escape. Plus, Thomas has been having some really weird visions too. He thinks Teresa helped create this death trap. You wouldn't be surprised. You loved the normal grader life except you had Gally at your side. Everyone was happier, almost. Even Thomas and Newt were happier. They admitted they had feelings for each other! Mihno looked pretty mad. But it was cool, because you four had picnics together and shuck.

And it was time to leave the glade. All the gladers took the whole day to prepare to leave, but mostly to take a last look at each other, because anything could happen. Anyone could be killed.

Thomas calls a meeting. He clears his throat and rubs his hands together eagerly. "Now that everyone is here, I'd like to say that even though I didn't get a warm welcome, you guys were my family. Together we figured it out. I'm as nervous as hell, to be honest, but we all have each other's backs. We have to fight. For what's ours. Everyone, be careful. And good luck. We're going to enter the maze in an hour. Me and Mihno will lead. We better start to pack up."

After everyone spread out to get a last look at the glade, you and gally were alone. "I really care about you, Y/N, and we'll make it." He says. You both get a last look in each other's eyes. This will not be the last time. You already established that. Ugh. This totally sucks. That's what Chuck would say. You'd bet money he'll say that sooner or later. You feel scared for yourself but mostly for chuck. He's too young. He needs more. He deserves more.

"I care about you too, Gally. I know we'll make it. We always do."

"I just hope this time is the same." He says.

"Duh." You smile but you have a cold year halfway down your cheek. You wipe it away. You don't want to look weak. Especially in front of Gally.

"I just want you to know, if I die, which I won't, I'll be thinking about you, and my last wishes are for you to be happy and whoever put us here gets told off. Ok?" He asks.

"Ok. Stop making this so emotional." You try to push it away. But your throat swells up and more tears pour out.

"If I die, which I won't, my last wish would be for you to be happy. And that you pray to God that he tells me how things turned out. If the world is good, or what all this is for." You say.

You want to live. You want to leave this world a better place than when you arrived.

"That's actually really good. It'd be nice to know why we're here."

"It sucks thinking this is the last time I'll see you wonderful smile and tiny nose." You say.

"Nah. This isn't the last of me." He leans in, puts his rough hands on your face and slowly kisses you, full force. One heck of a goodbye kiss. wait! Not goodbye. More of a... "I'll see ya on the other side but I'm not sure what's gonna happen" kiss.

Over time, you have prepared for the worst and hoped for the best.

But it was time. There was no use of waiting. Everything was set.

As everyone was ready to do to the doors, you hear yelling. Female. Teresa!

She yells frantically, "please! Let me out! LET ME OUT!"

Mihno rushes over. He unlocks it. "Here you go, now slim it."

"I knew you wouldn't forget me." She says.

"Considering we were gonna leave, I think we did. But you are something else." Mihno unlocks the door.

Gally and you passed out the metal and wooden buckets to everyone. There was a deep downpour the previous night, and they were all full of the liquid chemicals. Good for 30 minutes, or so, sometimes even longer, Gally had said.

Everyone stood at the doors a moment, and took a final look at one another. Not everyone would make it.

Gally looked into your eyes, and you looked in his. He squeezed your hand. "I love you." You say.

"Same." He said.

Just kidding. He actually said "I love you, too." You could tell he meant it.

After a final look at the glade, everyone grabbed there buckets. Thomas and Mihno were at the front. Everyone paused and had a moment, and Thomas said, "get ready to run."

They run, at full speed, and everyone cautiously enters the maze, having no idea what's in store. This is it.

The faded green ivy makes you even more nervous. The walls are so high above you, you feel like a tiny beetle. If the maze is this big, how big could the real world be? Or better yet, how scary could it be?

It's hard to keep up with the twists and turns. You try hard to run fast to stay next to Gally, who is running effortlessly and hardly breaking a sweat. He looks so concentrated. You look away in fear he'll catch you staring. How embarrassing that would be!

Your forhead is dripping with sweat. It sounds like you're weak, but this day it's particularly hot. The sun beats down on you.

Out of the blue, a boy, maybe 27 years old, appears in front of everyone. He looks petrified.

"Who are you?" Asks Mihno.

"I... I don't know! I came up in a box! I looked for the nearest escape and I found you. Where... Where am I?" His voice shakes.

"He's the oldest Greenie I've ever saw." Says Chuck. He clearly has no sympathy for little old Greenie here.

"Greenie?" He asks.

"Look, it's hard to explain. No one knows why we're here. None of us knew our name. It will come back soon. You probably want answers, but we don't have many. Now is not the time to ask. You'll find out soon. We're trying to leave. So please corporate. And run." Thomas says, and he and Minho start to run again.

"I'm so confused." He tells you, his voice still trembling. It's hard to talk in the commotion of all the high speed running taking place. It's kind of like his face is normal, but everything behind him is going in fast motion. Weird.

"Don't worry. We all are. But we're all gonna find out soon. We all have the same questions. No turning back now." You try to convince him.

He nods.

"Just keep caution. This maze is full of secrets and dangers." You warn.

He swallows and squints. Who knows what he could be thinking.

You look nervously ahead, dreading the griever hole. Poor Greenie. He has no idea what's coming up soon. It will happen. You mostly think about the grievers, but your mind drifts to afterward. It could be bad. Or the best thing that ever happened to you.

You have a leg cramp. You fight through it. Just keep on running. Almost there.

Don't give up, you tell yourself. The moment you give up is the moment things won't get better. Don't give up.

Keep on running.

For the gladers.

For Gally.

That's all you you can think of.
