You wake up in a small office. You untie Gally's sack and he crawls out.
"What the... Where are we?" He asks.
"Don't ask me. Let's just find a way out." You tell him. It was hard to do anything because your mind was somewhere else, specifically in the glade with your old friends.
"There's no exit." He says dryly.
"Shocker." You say sarcastically. Every place you've been to: no exit. The glade, that blank room, and now here. Whoopty doo.
Just as you and Gally begin searching for a way out closely together, the locked door opens. An old man appears in the doorway.
"It looks like our newcomers have finally woken up." He remarks, as if your own presence amused him. Maybe it was Gally's magical eyebrows?
He sits down at his desks.
"So," he says, crossing his legs. "Tell me about yourselves." Is he serious?
"Um, well, I'm Gally... And this is Y/N." Gally says. He gives you a confused look. You just shrug at him.
"Well that's nice for you. Tell me more."
"Uh... Well we just survive wickeds trials, well the first one for that matter. We was led and we don't know where we are." Gally says awkwardly.
"Ah, yes, I know that of course. But tell me more. How about you let the girl speak?" He says.
"Well, we just want to know where we are." You say quietly.
"Absolutely, I would expect you would," he chuckles. "But tell me something about you.."
"Well, I'm a girl.."
"ah, indeed you are. But tell me something about yourself that tells me who you are. You catch what I'm throwing?" Man, this guy is already making you feel guilty, and you haven't even said anything rude or offensive yet.
"I'll tell you who she is." Gally nods at you, which was his way of saying, 'I got chu.'
"she's brave and strong. She brought out the hood in me. She helped us escape. She was there for everyone, risked her own safety, and much more. And through the whole thing she never complained. Ok, maybe she did, but only to me. She's the kind of girl who isn't prissy or perfect. She's the kind of girl you want in your life, the girl you can count on. That's who she is."
The old man claps.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean it!" Gally says, panicking. It was pretty funny to watch him scrammble.
"Don't apologize. That was good. Now the door is wide open, you may leave."
"What?" You ask. "Just like that? There has to be some sort of catch."
"No. You both earned my trust. Now go enjoy my city. Enjoy it very much." He winks at Gally. Gally blushes. What the shuck...
"At least tell us how we even earned your trust."
"One. When I left the door open, you didn't run. Two. Gally's speech came from his heart. Just by watching you two and your words told me who you are inside. Three. I stole your profiles from WICKED's hq. I have all the information I desire" he pulls out some papers and continues with his day.
"Well, I guess we should... Go find someone to tell us where we are." He says.
"Yeah. I'll go ask that woman." You go up to a friendly looking woman with red lipstick... And blonde hair. She's the woman from the room!"
"Why hello there! I'm glad to see you're doing well." She smiles.
"Oh... Hi. Can you please tell me where I am?"
"Of course. That was the secret I was telling Gally a day or two ago. You're on the safest place on earth. We have a high tech security and 100% peace. You could call it paradise."
Oh my god. Did you seriously get that mad before over this dainty little secret? Big whoop. She wasn't lying. It was paradise. It was warm with a vanilla smell in the air and the area around you had an illuminating glow that was like a hug from a Greek god. You felt guilty your friends from the glade weren't here and they were off on some horrible deadly trial. And Chuck. When you thought of Chuck you felt a hollow pain in you heart. Poor Chuck.
"So, did they tell you, like, where me and Gally are supposed to go? Or do we just wonder the streets?" You fake smile. You felt so fake around her. Oops.
"Oh, don't be silly. You and Gally's new house and new life awaits two blocks over. You'll know it when you see it. It'll take you a few days to get situated. If you have any questions, I'm working here every week day 9-5. And here's my card." She hands you a red card with her picture and phone number on it. Guess she works for the.., governor.
You felt guilty feeling so mean towards her even though so was just so nice to you. You and Gally are literally in the best possible situation. Then why do you have such a gut feeling something's not right?
