Chapter 23

You think for a moment. This is a big descion. But it only seems right to go with the people who protected and cared for you. Well, most of the time, anyway...

"As long as Gally gets to come with me, I'll go." You say, pausing after saying "me."

"Sorry, kid, but I'm afraid it can only be you. Choose again." He said. Dang it. You imagine Simon Cowell from the X Factor saying "it's a NO from me" in your head.

You take a deep sigh. Time is running out. You have to choose.

"So?" Newt asks with a depressed look.

"I... can't just leave you guys. Especially Gally. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I'm going with them. I have to." You say. You begin to question it.

"You don't have to..." Says Gally.

"Gally, you know that would be going against who I am, but mostly who I want to be..."

"But it's a big risk, to go. I'd feel better if you were safe and happy."

"I can only be happy if I'm with you, even after all that happened. Deep down, I can't shy away from it because of some stupid misjudgment." You say.

"I just don't want you to risk so much that was offered to you, just because of me. I don't want the burden of this WICKED thing on you any more." Gally says. This guy really cares about you.

"Trust me. This is my decision. Don't make me regret it." You tease him.

Gally blushes and crosses his muscular arms, making you shiver with excitement. "Well, if you insist..."

"Congratulations. You passed your final experiment." The unknown named guy says.

"Wait... I remember someone saying that! What do you mean??" You ask anxiously. You remember the vision you got back in the glade about you being the final experiment.

"You and Gally were soulmates before the maze. We wanted to test it. Gally became angry and irritable when you weren't around. Even when you two met for the first time the second time, you defied all our statistics and fell in love again. But you showed love isn't a statistic, and can't be tested when it's true." Holy snicker doodles, that was deep. Crap, now you're hungry.

You and Gally open your mouths in shock.
This is big news... And explains a lot...

"So... How did we meet, for real?" Gally asked, raising both his eyebrows in delight at the new news. "I am unbelievably shocked."

"I am unbelievably hungry..." You muttered, although no one could hear you.

"I don't know. But I bet you can find out when you go through the flat trans to refuge." You rub your hands together. You're really excited and anxious to know how you really met! You wanted to know bad, like, NOW. That would be juicy stuff, man. Real juicy. As juicy as Frypan's pineapple glazed ham. Ok, you really need to stop thinking about food.

"Wait what? I thought there were more trials?!" Ok, this is getting confusing now.

"See, that's part of Y/N's last test. If she passed, she got to take you with her. But, we know you'd feel bad leaving your friends, so you have no choice. But, there's a compromise."

Everyone starts to chatter all at once.

Minho quiets everyone down by whistling. He gives him a nasty look. "So, shank, what's this compromise you're blabbing on and on about?"

"Well, Gally and Y/N will both receive a watch. Along with everyone else getting one. But it's not ordinary. When you guys need help the most, you simply press your own watch button, and either one or both of them will come through a flat trans and come with help. You all only get one chance for help each. Just ONLY use it when you're in absolute trouble. If it's not nessasary, there will be consequences."

"We all know there coming together..." Chuck groans.

"Yup." Says frypan, popping the "p."

"What about Chuck?" Thomas asks with a panic. "He shouldn't have to go through with it." It's really sweet how Thomas treats Chuck like a little brother. Chuck needs that right now.

"I'll tell you what. If you guys can complete a certain task, I'll set Chuck free early."

"Anything. You name it." He says like a salesman. Maybe he'll sell you a high quality microwave.

"I want you guys to take a detour once you find out the next trails. In addition to the Scorch trails, you have to get me something. You need to hack into the right arm's computers and get some data we need."

"Wait" says Thomas. "What's the right arm?"

"Erm... You can deal with that when you get to it. I'll tell you more later." He pales. He looks like he's hiding something. That does not sound good. You have a feeling when they get into this right arm stuff that's when you're going to get the SOS thingy. Whatever you wanna call it.

The ride goes silent for a little while. You and Gally were just happy to be free and know the truth. It was a real love. That fills you with an unbelievable happy happiness. It makes butterflies flutter in your stomach. Cheesy, yes, not true, no.

Although, you still didn't know what he knew that you didn't. What was it? You'll find out soon, you hope. You REALLY want to know, real bad. The not knowing drove you crazy. If it was absolutely important, wouldn't he tell you? Or is this another test? Geez, everything is so unpredictable all the time. That also drove you crazy. You always had more questions than answers.

You bite your lip out of nervousness, and also because Gally was staring at you. You little sly shank.

Finally, the helicopter slowed down. You knew it was time. You and Gally both said your goodbyes and last hugs. "I'll see you soon." You said.

You looked at Gally. He looked a you. You took a leap of faith. And with everything falling into a pit of second chances and unknown futures, you held Gally's hand, and you both jumped into the flat trans.

So... After this fanfic is done, I'd like to write another one, (which will be better and less cheesy, because I've learned stuff by writing this, which is my first fanfic) but I'm not sure what to write about.

What stuff are you guys into? Like what fandoms? Post a comment about what fanfic or book I should write next... I just want it to be about something everyone's into. Maybe I should make a chapter just to say what fandoms I'm able to write about?? I don't know.
