INT. JAMES' HOUSE - EVENING
James trudges upstairs, into his bedroom. YELLS are heard from the Kitchen.
EDITH (O.S) - Perry, please.
PERRY (O.S) - No. Fuck you!
JAMES' BEDROOM
James shuts the door, bringing the screams down to a whisper. He places his backpack down and changes out of his shirt.
He turns to a floor mirror -- above are magazine covers of famous actors from notable fashion brands. James checks himself out... He's unimpressed.
INT. JAMES' HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - EVENING
EDITH (40's; submissive) watches TV, appearing morose. James rushes downstairs and heads to the front door.
JAMES - Bye mom, love you.
EDITH - Love you. What time'll you be home?
JAMES - I dunno. Probably eight.
EDITH - How's the class coming along?
A car's headlights are seen shining through the window.
JAMES - Good, been learning a lot.
EDITH - That's good honey.
Through her worries, Edith puts on a smile for James.
EDITH (CONT'D) - I'm happy for you.
JAMES - Yeah. Plus Kevin's tryna set me up with an agent.
EDITH - That'd be amazing.
JAMES - I know, that would --
EDITH - But I don't want you to be late, go. I'll talk to you more tonight.
JAMES - Okay, I'll see you.
EDITH - Love you!
James opens the door. He's met with PERRY (30's; hardy).
PERRY - Hey there.
JAMES - Hey.
(to Edith)
Love you!
James squeezes by Perry and heads to his car.
PERRY - Off to acting class?
JAMES - Yup.
PERRY - Good luck!
James ignores him and slams his car door shut. He drives off.
