INT. JAMES' APARTMENT - DAY
The studio is fully moved into as James unpacks his final box. On his bed, sits NOAH (40's; well-kept and a baby face) listening to a generic entertainment news channel.
NOAH (to James) - Tell me. Are you missing home yet>?
JAMES - That's funny.
James removes the final item in the box and KICKS it across the room. He marches over to a window and gazes outside.
JAMES (CONT'D) - I mean everything here's just so different than home. It's insane how --
RING. James checks his phone (Kevin calling). He silences it.
NOAH - Uh-oh. Looks like someone's already made friends out here.
James forces a laugh.
JAMES - I wish. Just my friend from home.
NOAH - Well talk to him silly.
JAMES - No, I know. I-I was...
NOAH - Listen, bub. Talk to your friend and meet me in the car.
Noah rises and ruffles James' hair.
NOAH (CONT'D) - We'll go for a rise -- show you 'round town.
JAMES - What? Like those paparazzi buses?
Noah grins -- I like this kid.
NOAH - No. Not like the fucking paps' bullshit tour... A real tour.
RING. Kevin calls again.
NOAH (CONT'D) - An impatient one?
They exchange smiles. Noah exits and James answers.
JAMES (into phone) - Hey!
KEVIN (V.O) - What's up? How's things going?
JAMES - Amazing. You of all people would love it here.
KEVIN (V.O) (sarcastic) - So amazing that you ignored my first call?
JAMES - Fuck off. Lucky I didn't ignore you again.
They laugh -- just like the old times -- followed by an awkward silence. Then...
KEVIN (V.O) - Well are you --
JAMES - Listen, I have --
KEVIN (V.O) - Sorry, what's that?
JAMES - No, I was just saying that Noah's waiting for me in the car. But --
KEVIN (V.O) - Go then! I'll talk to you later.
James paces over and puts his shoes on by the door.
JAMES - You sure? I can have him wait.
KEVIN (V.O) - Yes! Go.
JAMES - I'll call you later if --
KEVIN (V.O) - Bye!
James puts away his phone and exits his apartment.
