INT. BOOTSY'S BELLOWS - NIGHT
A dimly lit, vibrant nightclub. James, Noah, Edan, and Raul sit at a private table with a few other GUYS and GIRLS.
RAUL (to James) - Not too bad for your first club, huh?
JAMES - It's insane.
He looks out to the dance floor, which is packed with people.
JAMES (CONT'D) - And the girls here... Jesus Christ.
NOAH - Go out there!
JAMES (re: his drink) - Not without more of this.
Noah pours everyone at the table a shot.
NOAH - What my client wants, my client gets.
He winks at James and holds his glass for a cheers. They all connect their glasses -- except Edan (too busy texting).
RAUL - James' first night out in LA!
They all congratulate James and take the shot.
EDAN - Sergio just got here.
NOAH - Webb?
EDAN - Yeah.
JAMES - The Sergio Webb??
NOAH - Yup.
JAMES - No fucking way,
EDAN - Speaking of...
Edan rises. They all turn to see Sergio Webb (40's; adonis)
NOAH - Sergio! Good to see you.
Sergio gestures to everyone.
Sergio - Hello, hello.
He goes over and gives Edan and Raul a kiss on the cheeks.
EDAN - This is James, one of Noah's clients.
NOAH (correcting) - Best client.
James is tongue-tied. Sergio shakes his hand.
SERGIO - Pleasure.
JAMES - I'm a huge fan.
Sergio lends a rehearsed smile and sits down.
JAMES (CONT'D) - You have no idea what this means to me.
Then something CLICKS for Sergio -- a light-bulb moment.
SERGIO (to James) - Shit, I've heard of you.
JAMES - What?? How?
SERGIO - Corey Hobbs. We're working on this film that's in development.
From the mention of "Corey Hobbs", James' smile subsides.
SERGIO (CONT'D) - And don't worry. He's told me everything.
FLASHBACK
INT. COREY'S CONDO - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Corey places his hand on James' thigh, and James appears uneasy.
END FLASHBACK
BACK TO SCENE
Noah takes notice of Jame's weariness.
NOAH - Anyways... Are we drinking tonight or what?
Sergio, Edan, and Raul begin to talk among themselves. Noah goes to pour a drink, but the bottle is empty. He notices a BOTTLE GIRL walking past their table.
