INT. MERCER LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL - AUDITORIUM - NIGHT
Opening night. A nearly sold-out show, as people talk among each other, waiting for the show to start.
BACK STAGE
James (dressed as Romeo) peaks out the curtains. He gazes around until he finds Edith, Perry, and Kevin sitting. James grins and continues his search, looking for Richard.
MARGRET (O.S) - You ready?
James turns around to find Margret dressed as Juliet.
JAMES - Hope so.
They share a smile as Mr. Mouser rushes up to them.
MR. MOUSER - Alright you two. Ready to make some magic?
He guides James and Margret to the center of the stage.
FLICK. A spotlight turns on them. The chatter from the audience simmers down. James and Margret exhale. They get into their character.
MR. MOUSER - Break a leg.
He hurries off. The curtains draw back. The crowd claps.
Once the applause dies down, Margret begins her dialogue... But we don't hear a word of it -- everything is made SILENT.
PRE-LAP - clapping, and cheers are heard from the audience.
Right when James goes to give his opening line...
LATER
The entire cast and Mr. Mouser hold hands across the stage. They take a bow. James looks out to Edith, Perry, and Kevin (they're all proud). He surveys the rest of the audience.
