James drives in silence. He appears defeated -- broken.
INT. JAMES' CAR (MOVING) - EVENING
Although it's a new day, nothing has changed. James still drives in silence and wears the same disheartened face.
James pulls out his phone and calls Kevin on speaker. RING... Nothing. James is sent to VOICEMAIL.
KEVIN (V.O) - It's me, Kevin. Yes, the Kevin. Leave a message.
BEEP.
JAMES - Kevin, hey...
James scrambles. He hasn't thought this through.
JAMES (CONT'D) - Don't think I'll be there tonight. Mom needs help around the house, and I just have too much homework.
An emotional beat. James gets a lump in his throat.
JAMES (CONT'D) - Alright. See ya, bye.
He hangs up.
