I'm not wrong about it.
I've seen so many cases in my life that I can recognise if I see one.Murder in front of his house, shards of glasses, blood on the floor, a cut on his hand, bloodstained shirt, strangulation marks on his neck.
Ah! My mind is going insane. Just what the hell happened here?! What does all of this lead to? I got up to confront Joshua. He was in the living room.
"Joshua? I need to talk-" Suddenly the doorbell rang. We both looked at each other, then at the door. "I'll open it," I said.
I went toward it and as soon as I opened the door, I saw Woozi and Lee Chan standing with their blue surgical masks, gloves, headcovers, and a kit. They're from our forensic staff.
"Hi Jeonghan-ah," We all treat each other like friends, no senior no junior no sir. Even though, I'm on a major post than them.
"Hey guys, um, may I ask what you are doing here?" I pretended a smile.
"Wonwoo told us you ordered to collect the blood samples from here," said Woozi.
"Oh— yeah, right," I totally forgot. My eyebrow twitched because I also forgot that Joshua is scared of needles. But matching the samples is necessary, not for me, but to submit it to the department. "Come on in," I said
Joshua came to see, "Uh, bab- um, Joshua, we need to take your blood sample,"
He made an anxious face. "Don't worry, it'll only take a second," I told him. While I directed Woozi toward his bedroom to preserve the sample of blood on the floor Chan came near Joshua.
"Okay, sit down and roll up your sleeves," Chan tied a tourniquet tightly around his right upper arm.
Fear plastered on his face when Chan pulled out the syringe. Joshua looked at me with his puppy eyes and pouty face.
"It'll be fine," I reassured him and held his left hand firmly. "Just –just look at my face, hm?"
He nodded. When his veins popped out, Chan pricked above his elbow. He flinched and pursed his lips. "Stay still," Chan said
It was clearly taking more than a second. Tears build up at the corner of his eyes. It was hard to watch him like this. I rubbed his palm to soothe him down. "Almost done," I said.
The questions were still roaming inside my head which I wanted to ask him, but there's no chance he'll answer me at all now, after knowing that I called the forensic staff despite knowing his phobia of needles. He sulks so easily.
"Okay, done," Chan took out the needle and placed a cotton swab on his arm. "Hold it tight,"
"I will do," I said sitting beside him and pressing on it.
"My work is done too," Woozi said coming out of the bedroom.
"Good work guys. Now you know what to do next, right? Go to the lab, match the samples, and tell me the result asap," I said.
"And you?" they asked, staring at me and Joshua, probably thinking about what I'm doing with him.
"Uh, I'm coming in a minute, wait for me in the car," I would've loved to stay here but I don't have a car to go back and also I'm getting late for work. They went out, living me and Joshua here alone.
