Home! Such a sweet word. And it becomes even sweeter if your boyfriend or in my case, your loved one, is living with you.

Yes, I was back at home after spending excruciating fifteen days at that hospital. Next time even if I get stabbed brutally, I would prefer to die instead of going back there. My whole upper body leaving my arms and neck is covered in gauze bandages. Though I can walk properly now without any help, I can't bend down, jump, run, and lift my left arm. I've been dismissed from my department duties for a week to rest well.

It sucks.

Whatsoever, Joshua's being a real sweetheart, he's preparing food these days, doing all my laundry, cleaning the house, and helping me dress up, also, he's working from home to stay by my side all day. He's the angel I could ever ask for. However, I feel a bit sad being taken care of by him, because it always reminds me how I was not with him when he needed me the most.

11:25 pm, showing in the clock. Joshua was working on his laptop sitting beside me on the sofa, while I was watching the news. Now, no channel shows any news related to those murders. The department held a press conference in my absence and released to the public that the murderers were encountered by the police in their defense, police and not me, they didn't put forth my name. Which is sorta okay for me, I do not care for others' attention except for the one beside me. Hence, no explanations were given why those victims were killed as the case was closed.

But the matter hasn't been over yet. At any cost, I want to set up an inquiry on that church without anyone knowing. I'm sure they're cooking something big in there and I'll be the one to bust them.

Joshua closed his tabs and shut down the laptop. He stretched his arms and snuggled up with me, resting his head on my chest. I chuckled softly, "Tired?" He nodded with closed eyes. I planted a kiss on his head, and lay more comfortably with him in my arms, "It's fine. Relax a bit," I was making slow circles on his back while humming a melody. And the boy snoozed off shortly.

Soon after, my eyes were also getting droopy listening to Mayor's boring speech. I was going to turn the TV off when suddenly it switched to show some breaking news.

"Warning to all the citizens, we've been just informed some movement has been observed in the volcano adjacent to the island. Volcanologists are estimating an eruption within the upcoming ten days or earlier." The anchor interpreted. "It is being said the blast will be smaller than the previous one but there is a possibility of feeling potential earthquake tremors. Scientists are unable to understand the premature changes in the volcano which was supposed to stay dormant for the next fifty years. Nevertheless, the citizens are being alerted to take precautions-"

"Oh my God..." I whispered to myself. Why is my every terror coming true one by one? First getting shot, now the fucking volcano? And I have no other choice but to stay in this city this time too. I'm not a fourteen-year-old anymore, I can't run away. As a responsible cop, I'll have to make sure no one gets injured when that happens. Lord, are you taking some kind of test?

I turned off the TV, for now, I don't want to deal with any of this shit happening around me. I already have a lot of worries.

Abruptly, I noticed my hand which was on his back moving up and down with the rhythm of his breathing was still for the last few seconds. To confirm I placed my index finger below his nose. He has stopped breathing again and before he chokes I have to wake him up.
