After getting home,
Joshua went and plopped on the sofa, shutting his eyes. He looked pretty tired.
He doesn't have any idea how narrowly he survived today. It gives me chills thinking what would have happened if he had eaten those cookies. It could've made him faint, or worse they could've been poisoned. I will have to take more care of him at every step he takes. Who does he meet? What does he eat? Where does he go? Or should I make him stay at home for some days?
I released a breath. Man! is this tiring.
"Don't sleep here, go wash up first," I said to him. He shook his head. Will there ever come such a time that he'll say yes to anything I tell him to do?
"Joshua..." I grabbed his hands and made him sit up. "Go,"
He pulled me with him and lay back again, making me fall on top of him. I know how to make him stand. I moved closer and nuzzled my face on his neck, leaving some soft kisses. He laughed so hard. His neck is ticklish, so whenever I kiss him there, it always makes him laugh. I kept nestling my face and he kept giggling while patting my head to stop.
Making him laugh was always my favorite thing. Though I can never hear it, I love that breathy, raspy sound it makes. I halted finally and stared at his all smiley face. "Are you going or do you want more?"
He immediately shook his head, got up, and went toward the bathroom after taking out a pair of my clothes from the wardrobe.
He went to bed early, meanwhile, I did the cleaning of the house as I don't get enough time in the morning, solved some crossword puzzles in the newspaper, watched today's headlines on TV, and did some planning for the next day, then went to bed too.
Joshua was already in his sweet dreamland not caring that someone was planning to kill him at this moment. But they have to go through me first.
I kissed his cheek and climbed in under covers beside him, spooning him from behind, resting my chin on the crown of his head. I dozed off shortly counting sheep in my head. It always works.
After midnight, my sleep stirred when I was turning over to my side. I extended my hand but the place beside me was unusually empty. With my eyes closed, my forehead formed a crease. I opened them slightly and noticed Joshua wasn't there. As always. His habit of disappearing silently anywhere anytime isn't good. He can't speak, he could get stuck in a problem and I wouldn't know where he is.
Reluctantly, I got up from my cozy bed to find him. Thankfully, he was inside the house, sitting on the kitchen counter— his favorite spot.
"Baby?" I said entering the kitchen. He whipped his head toward me. "What are you doing here?"
After a short pause, he responded by shaking his head. I went closer and secured my hands around his waist. "Had trouble breathing?" I asked. He looked down and gave a nod with a gloomy expression.
"Want me to give you mouth to mouth?" I joked to make his mood better. He sniggered. "Don't worry, you'll get better someday," I said pushing his hair from his eyes and placing a kiss on his forehead.
"Wanna eat something?" I asked. He refused. "Let's get you to bed then," He again denied and grabbed my hand.
"What?" I asked, trying to understand what he needed. Hesitatingly, he lifted his hand and touched his lips, then mine. I chuckled. "Want a kiss?"
