Chapter: 45
Ezio's POV:
I look at the two people in front of me that were wearing long black cloaks, just like the ones here. I was on edge as I didn't know who they were. I know one is taller than the other as my eyes flicker back and forth. They share a look with each other, before they came closer to us. I hold Serena close to my chest as I back up a couple of feet as my body ran into a wall behind us. I shouted "Stay away from us!"
They pause in mid-step as they remove their hoods and my eyes widen as the guy said "See, I told you it was him"
"I don't want to hear it, son" The woman said with an elbow jab into her son's ribs.
He didn't look confused anymore and he look bright and cheerful. It was like someone had replace him a while ago, but he looks fine now. "Antonio and Serena's mother... what are you guys doing here?"
"Escorting you two out and we need to hurry...what happened to Serena?" Serena's mother said noticing her daughter and I could hear the panic in her voice.
"Not now. I will explain later, but we need to hurry. Serena is in critical condition right now" I said as they both nodded.
They quickly escorted us through the guards that came as they took care of them while I ran with Serena in my arms. My Uncle was with us as well and he help out greatly as well. We finally manage to escape from the place where everything had went down. A sigh of relief escape from me, but Serena wasn't out of danger just yet. I follow my Uncle and Serena's mother along with her brother to a doctor.
I lay her on his table just like the first time when she had gotten poison. He pull up her shirt as I could see the blood was still seeping from the wound and it look pretty deep. I was worried as he bandage her side as best as he could. I notice Antonio looking at her worry as well and I had to take a double look at him to make sure that I was seeing things right. He does fear for his sister's life...
Serena's mother was worry as well, but that's all mother's are. I notice under their black cloaks they were both in their Assassin's robes. So, that's what she has been doing. A smirk was starting to spread across my lips, but it got interrupted by the doctor. "Her wound is deep, but not to deep where it would need a thread and needle. Other than that, she'll be fine. She can't get move around and I strictly forbid her from walking to soon. She will stay in bed for a few days, until it's heal enough where it won't re-open."
We all nodded slowly as I murmured "Grazie, dottore"
The doctor nodded to me as I pick up Serena gently "Di niente, signore"
********************************************
We arrive back at the Villa as my Uncle was excited to see Serena's mother as he hug her. It was funny to see my Uncle this way and he even hug Antonio. I guess I would have to talk to him later. I went into our room that we now share together and I lay her down on the bed gently. I gently remove her robes so she will be more comfortable as I left her under garments on. I pull the blanket up gently as I gently kiss her forehead.
"After all the stories I have heard about you, Ezio, you sure do love my daughter" Serena's mother's voice came from the door.
I look over at her to see that her black cloak was off as her hood was down as well. She look like Serena, but older. I nodded "I know my past has not been great...with women, I mean, but Serena is different from all of them. She loves me and I love her. I only want her and no other woman"
Serena's mother nodded "Good, that's what I want to hear from you. Anyway, come down and join us. Antonio has a few words for you as well"
I nodded as I follow her out of the room and I look back to see Serena peacefully sleeping and a warm smile spread across my lips. I close the door behind me as I follow her mother down the staircase to my Uncle's study. I could hear laughter coming from there as Claudia was in here as well. I notice how they were laughing together and he truly has changed from the confused man that I knew before.
"Ah...Ezio" He said coming over to me as her playful tone turn into a serious one.
Serena's mother went to Claudia as she guide her over to the desk away from us. I look at Antonio as he look guilty and miserable again. He began "I apologize for everything that I have cause for you and Serena. I meant no harm, because I thought I was doing the right thing and in the end. I wasn't doing the right thing, I was doing what that evil man wanted me to do and I want to apologize for the pain that I put Serena in"
"Shouldn't you be apologizing to her then?" I asked raising an eyebrow up at him.
He nodded "I will, once she wakes up. If you will let me see her..."
I nodded as I place my hand on his shoulder "I have seen the man that you have become now and I do forgive you as you were confused in what to do. I understand that and now moving forward will amends you're actions for what had happen in the past. Serena...will be happy to see you again, Antonio"
He smile at me as it was truly a genuine one "Thank you, Ezio"
"Di niente, Antonio" I nodded my head to him.
We smile at each other as he walk away from me and back over to his mother. Claudia smile at Antonia as they started to talk to one another and Uncle Mario came over to me "It's nice to see that the boy had turn a new leaf and now he will be accepted into the order shortly as well"
I nodded my head "Indeed, he will, Uncle"
"You handle that quite nicely..." My uncle murmured.
"What's the use of keeping a grudge against someone that had obviously changed?" I asked as a smirk form over my lips.
My Uncle chuckle "You have grown into a man that you're father would have been proud of, Ezio"
I nodded smiling as my Uncle patted my shoulder before he call out to them. Everyone can finally relax once again...
