Chapter: 12 Opening Up a Little

Chapter: 12

Serena's POV: 

I was awake as I blink the haziness from my vision as I realize I was in the bedroom again. I look around as I sat up feeling awfully confused. Wasn't I in the alleyway? Why am I here? Who came after me? The door open as I froze in place as I knew who it was. He close the door behind him as he came over to me and took a sit on the edge of the bed in front of me. I slowly look up at him to see there wasn't a smile on his face, but a hard look. 

Someone isn't very please with me and he said in a cool tone as I heard him trying to control the anger in himself or at least that's what I thought "Serena...what were you thinking?"

"I wasn't thinking... I was just acting..." I said without a second thought. 

"Well then you should have thought things though before acting on them, Serena!" He burst out as there was a fierceness in his eyes as he look at me piercing my eyes with his. 

"Why don't you mind your own business, Ezio?" I snapped as I glare at him.

"I was worried about you...you made me worried, Serena" He said deathly calm this time.

I didn't know what to say to that so I just shut up and still my tongue as I look away from him as I murmured lowly "Then don't worried about me, Ezio"

"How can you say that after what had happen to you? You do remember what happen right...?" He asked as I close my eyes as the feeling of betrayal came as I rub the back of my neck.  

"You weren't there...you don't know what happen!" I shouted at him as I felt my throat closing up and my eyes prick with tears. I was absolutely frustrated that my brother did that to me and now all I want to do is be alone. I don't want him around and I don't want anyone to tell me what I already know. I made a mistake of trying to go back and now I'm burning with the need of knowing where my mother is. 

"I would have known if you had open up to me..." He murmured a little bitterly as his eyes never left my face even though I avoided making eye contact with him. 

"Well...I don't want to..." I folded my arms across my chest as I didn't look his way and I was still shaky as I try to hold in the tears that so badly wanted to shed. 

He move closer to me as he pick me up and sat me on his lap holding me closely to him. I broke as I burst into sobs as he sat there, soothing me. I sob against his chest as he hold me more tightly to him. Ezio murmured "Please open up to me, Serena..." 

"Why? So you can use it against me?" I sob out. 

"No...no...of course not. I was open with you and you didn't utter one peep to anyone." He murmured softly. 

My sobs quiet down as I murmured "I saw my brother last night... and he stick me with something before running off. He didn't tell me if our mother was still alive or not. It has been such a long time since I got to see her...much less remember her" 

He shush me as I felt embarrassed from even opening up and I sigh "Now...you probably think I'm a complainer* 

Ezio chuckled "Now...you're thinking that...goodness. You're mind can switch pretty fast, huh, Serena?" 

I shot him a glare as he chuckle some more before he wipe the stray tears away from the corners of my eyes. "I'm teasing, Serena" He murmured. 

I huffed, but the corners of my lips were twitching as a smile bloom over my features. We were quiet as I continue to rest against him. He felt warm and safe...my eyelids were drooping shut as I try to keep myself awake. I murmured "I'm sorry, Ezio..." 

He gently grab my chin and made me look up at him as he said meeting my eyes "It's fine, Serena. Even though, you are quite stubborn and somehow get under my skin." 

I gasp up at him as I said with a warning tone "Ezio..." 

Ezio burst out laughing and it sound amazing to my ears as he said "I'm kidding, Serena" 

I roll my eyes as I let out an exhausted sigh as he pick me up once before laying me on the bed as he slowly pull the blanket over me. "Get some more sleep, Serena" 

"You know I could have lay down by myself..." I said up to him. 

He only chuckle some more "And what's the fun in that, Serena?" 

I felt my cheeks warm up at his teasing tone as he smirk at me, before standing up. He was about to walk away as I grab his hand as he look at me with a surprised expression on his face. I realize what I did, but I murmured lowly "Please...don't let me be alone, Ezio..." 

He nodded as he gave my hand a squeeze as he murmured softly to me "Of course I won't leave you alone..."

I nodded as I close my eyes as he slowly let go of my hand. I slip mine under the pillow as I fell into the darkness that was awaiting for me.
