Chapter: 36 Troublesome Day and An Eventful Night

Chapter: 36

Serena's POV: 

  My mother was leaving us as she was going to search for my brother. Ezio and I watch her as she walk off down the street. We were going to head back to Venice and to visit Leonardo. I will see my mother again and hopefully my brother as well. We might not be a whole family, but were family in someway. I guess that was what matters the most right now. Ezio lead me by the hand as we walk down the street of Florence. I look around as I was familiar with everything that was here.

   I felt complete in someway, but I didn't know how or why. I look up at Ezio to see he had his hood up and was looking at me as we made our way down the street. He smile at me as I smile up at him. He lend down to press a kiss to my cheek and I blush deeply again. He chuckle as we continue to make our way to the entrance of Florence. I look around as everyone was walking around, minding their own business. I look at the guards to see that they were busy and not paying any attention to us at all. Ezio and La Volpe must of have taken care of the wanted posters. 

   We made it to the entrance of Florence as we exit out of the town and walk a little further out into the country side. Someone drop from the wall and if Ezio hadn't move me out of the way. I would have ended up on the ground. A person stood up from the ground as I saw the light being cast off by a dagger and I could see that the dagger had a green edge to it. The dagger had been dipped into a poison. My entire body seem to freeze as I realize the man and I could tell Ezio had tense up as well. 

   "Ezio and Serena...you will both not be leaving this town alive! You will pay for what you did!" He shouted at us. 

  He threw a couple of daggers out us, but not the dagger that had poison on it. We dodged the daggers as I roll to one side as Ezio dodged to the other side. I quickly got up as I flick my wrist out unsheathing the hidden blade. I went after the guy that stood in front of me as I strike him. He dodged as he swipe at me with the poison blade. I dodged his dagger as I move from left to right avoiding the blade. How did he find us? I thought he had run off to my father that had him position at that building where I was being held as a prisoner. Well...maybe a little more than a prisoner.

   Ezio was right behind him as I grab the guy's wrist that had the dagger in his hand. I struggle against him as Ezio unsheathe his blade and he stab the guy straight into his back. The guy was wide eye as he choke and I quickly back away from him as he fell forward on his knees. Ezio sheathe his blade as the man fell forward. I kick his blade away from his hand as Ezio grab my hand and pull me over to him. We quickly walk away from him as we hoist ourselves up onto our horses and spur away from the body that was laying on the ground. 

   We rode in a comfortable silence as I felt scared again as I was wondering if he knew my mother was with us. Will they go after her? I felt a hand grab my hand as I look over to see Ezio giving my hand a gentle squeeze "It's going to be all right, Serena" 

    I nodded "Will he go after my mother again?" 

   "I highly doubt that he will, since he knows that we are after him now" Ezio murmured reassuringly to me. 

   I nodded as I thread my fingers with his as he smile at me and I smile back at him "I love you, Serena"  

    "I love you too, Ezio" I murmured feeling my chest swell with emotions.

   We stop at the Villa to see how his Uncle was doing and he made us stay for tonight. I didn't mind at all. Uncle Mario hug me as he said "Look at you, Serena. I hardly recognize you! You look grown in those robes"
