New Kid

Ever felt like something was missing? Not like the usual missing feeling but ever since the day you were born it never went away? Well that's pretty much my life. For as long as I can remember I felt empty, incomplete, or just alone. Sorry I forgot to introduce myself my name is Knuckles Echidna. I was born on a floating island my ancestors discovered centuries ago. My father is the guardian of the very item that keeps our island floating. My mother is a healer and works at Angel island hospital. I have an older brother and sister who I love to drive crazy. Anyways I never really been the social type and was bullied up until high school because some how I guess I became the hottest gay guy in school. Not like I cared I was just happy not being the target. Of course I stood up for the ones who where getting bullied. I gained a back bone in middle school after a group of kids called me a faggot and punched me. Though my life turned around I never went to parties I was invited to or had one for myself because I felt like I would make a fool of myself. Yet my friends Katherine whom I known since we were babies, Don and Elise. We always hung out and I felt comfortable around them but when it came time for college we made our separate ways. Except for Kat she left the island for some boarding school after her unveiling when we were 16. I decided to stay at Angel Island University but after my freshman year and half my sophomore year I felt like I was meant to go somewhere else. I found a college in the Mushroom Square area. Something told me to apply and I got accepted immediately. Now all there's left is to tell mom and dad.
"WHAT?!" They said. "I want to go to MSU I already got my acceptance." I said looking up at them as I finished signing some papers for AIU transfers. "But this is so sudden baby are you sure?" Mom asked. "Yes mom you and dad always told me I need to branch out and get out of my comfort zone..plus you two want me to experience life off the island." "He's got a point you guys" Mace said walking in. "I think that's awesome little brother" my sister smiled. "Do you really want to do this Knuckles it's a big step for you since you never left the island." Dad asked with worry. "Yes" I replied and my parents nod. "Alright I'll get ahold of the financial department at the school and get it transferred just promised to call us ok?" "I will dad" "even if you see me and your fathers caller ID please answer" "I will try mom it depends if my hands are full or not." I chuckled.
This might be what I need and who knows I might enjoy this new experience.

"Turn Right on Gold Avenue" "It's a fucking one way!" I growl feeling very aggravated and shut off the GPS. Or maybe not...
"What fucking use is this thing if it keeps leading me to a fucking one way that I can't turn right on!" I pull over and lay my head back. "Great my first fucking day and I'm going to be late.... I guess I'll have to look for the dormitory later." I put my car in gear and head to the office building to get my class schedule. I cut the engine once I parked the car outside the main office. When I enter I am greeted by a girl with auburn hair, blue eyes, and a soft face. She wears a rock band tank under a green flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up with ripped skinny jeans and converse tennis shoes. "Hi I'm Daisy I'll be your guide today." She said with a smile. "Are you?" She opens the folder. "Knuckles Saber Echidna?" She looks up and I nod with a smirk. "Yep that's me" I said. "Cool name! You're named after the ancient Knuckle tribe on angel island right?" She asked. I was very surprised she knew that. "Actually yeah how did you-?" "Know? Well I like reading about ancient history and learning about tribes. That story is my favorite. Tikal was a brave woman." She said with a smile. I smirk. "She happens to be my really great grandmother" I said as I watch her eyes widen. "NO WAY! That's so cool! You got to tell me more sometime." "Sure" "Sweet now here's your folder with all your classes and a map of the college including the dormitories." "Wish I came here first"
She gives me her number if I had any questions and led me to my first class.

I entered the large classroom where 40 pairs of eyes stare at me as I hand my transfer credits to the professor. She puts on her glasses to read the papers. She nods and hands me my textbook from the cabinet next to her desk. "We're on page 216 paragraph 5" she said, I nod and head to the upper row of desks. Once again the eyes follow my movements as I walk up the steps to the empty row. I open my textbook and start taking notes as the professor grabs the attention of all the eyes from me. "Thank god"
As I listen to her lesson I felt someone still staring at me. I look around noticing everyone was looking at the teacher but the feeling never left.

After classes I finally managed to get into the right dormitory. I look to see what my dorm number was before heading up on the second floor. I knock on the door to see if anyone answered. When no one does I enter the room. It's got it's own bathroom, mini kitchen and closet. "Sweet" I thought. I walk in the bedroom part and see two beds. My bed technically taken over by the other residents books and laptop. I look over at the desk and shelf on the other side and see it's not being used. I set down my bag and take the books from the bed to place them nicely on the shelf. Then I picked up the laptop and put it on the desk. I start making my bed before putting away my clothes in the closet near my bed. When I leave the closet I picked up my school bag to start working on todays assignment. "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!" A male voice boomed making me drop everything. I turn around and see a black hedgehog with red streaks standing there in his ripped grey jeans with a chain hanging on the side, black boots, and black pushier shirt. "I'm Knuckles your new dorm mate." I said holding out my hand. He stares at me and walks to his bed. "Shadow" he said. "Got proof your living here?" He said sitting down on his bed. I grip my hand and reach in my bag for the paperwork showing my residency here. Shadow nods "Well then welcome to the dorm" he looks at where I had moved his books and laptop. "At least you're not some snotty rich kid like my last dorm mate was." He said lighting a cigarette. "Last one?" He blows out smoke and looks at me with those stunning red eyes. "Yeah I'm known not to have dorm mates for long. Let's see how long you will last" he said taking another puff. "Got one for me?" I asked pointing at the box. He grins and tosses me the box with a lighter. I lit one up myself. "Well I say I'm gonna be here for awhile." I said blowing out smoke as I see him grin. "Well then I say we're off to a pretty good start Knux." He said. "Knux?" "Short for Knuckles you can call me Shadz if ya want." He smiled but the way he smiled makes me blush and my heart skip a beat. I turn away folding up my duffel bag hoping he didn't see me blushing.

"Something about this echidna really grabs my interest he's not like the others. That blush of his was adorable and the fact he tries to hide it makes it more cute. There's something about him I want to know more about and it's killing me! I love it~" shadow thought watching the red echidna in jeans, grey hoodie and his fur pulled back as he grabs the last box to unpack. Shadow licks his lips watching his body move as he unpacks. He lays down and puts out his cigarette.

I lay down finally and the bed is surprisingly comfortable. I look over to see shadow asleep. "At least tomorrow is Saturday I get to sleep in." I thought as I fall asleep.
