Mist

His eyes widen in fear and sadness as I tell him about the nightmare as I lay on his chest with tears falling. He holds me close letting me hear his heartbeat which helps me relax. I began to drift off asleep yet images of blood and screams flash through the darkness. My body jerks as I struggle to sleep. Shadow gets up and hands me my medicine. I take them and he curls back up next to me. This time I'm able to drift off peacefully.
I woke up to my alarm and a note from shadow telling me he will see me after classes and will bring us back some dinner. He also wrote he will keep an eye out on the students as well. I smile and log on my laptop for my first class. I managed to send all my assignments that were due while I was in the hospital before the class started. As I was watching the lecture from the classroom's live camera I noticed something coming from the vents and I wasn't the only one. The other students were sending frantic messages to the teacher who ignores them thinking it's a prank when she doesn't "see"anything. It was the same black mist from my nightmare. I hit the record button on my computer. I watched as It faded away onto a boy and girl sitting on the middle row of desks. The next thing I knew, they were throwing books at the professor screaming profanity and the girl jumped on one of the male students biting into his arm. The guy looks up at the camera and his eyes glowing white. "Class is canceled!" He yelled before throwing the glass paper weight at the professor's head. She managed to avoid being hit and the paper weight shattered across the board. 6 college security officers run in and tranquilize the two students. The professor call the paramedics for the male student who had a chunk of his arm bitten off. As the two students are strapped tight and rolled out the mist leaves their bodies. "What the hell?" I hit stop on the recording and made sure it was saved. "Could this be what sonic was talking about?" I asked myself. A urgent email popped up informing students classes will be online until further notice due to recent incidents and classes for the rest of the week are canceled. They advised us to stay in our dorms as much as possible and had set a curfew during school hours and weekends for safety precautions. I brush back my fur eyes staring at the screen. "Was my nightmare that drove me crazy last night actually be a warning?"  So many questions went through my head. I hear running in the hall and my door starts banging. "Knuckles it's me sonic!" I open the door to see him, Mario and Tails. "Have you heard?" He began but I stop him. "I haven't heard I saw" I said having them follow me into my dorm. I playback the recording I took. They watched it in horror. "Oh my God......" Mario said with a shaky voice. "Could that be the cause?" Me and Sonic asked Tails at the same time. "I have never seen anything like it but judging by how they acted after the mist faded into them I say that's probably why students have been acting strange one second then fine the next. Yet it was never this extreme....." he said blue eyes confused. "What's going on in here?" We turn to see Shadow standing there. "Knux you should be in bed resting" he said. "What why?" Sonic asked. "None of your business blue." He said as I laid back down. "Shadz you need to see this video knuckles recorded from his class." Mario said. He looks at me. "He's right shadow...... you really need to see it....." I said my eyes showing worry. "It might explain my nightmare that sent me to the hospital last night...." I finished. Everyone looks at me. "Wait what?" Tails said. "Shadz that mist in the video is the same mist from my nightmare" I said as he walks over to the computer. He watches the video with no emotion until the end his eyes grew angry. He growls making Mario, Sonic and Tails back up. "Shadow?" Sonic said with fear. Shadow looks at all of us eyes redder than before.
