It's October the leaves fall on the ground in beautiful red, orange, and yellow. The air become cool and crisp and- "AHCHOO!" Cold season hits
"A-ah-choo! Fuck my life" Shadow said with a snuffy nose. "I thought vampires don't get sick?" I smiled bringing him some tea. "Some do some don't and cough cough I unfortunately do" he groaned sipping his tea. I put my hand against his forehead and the sides of his face that are warmer than usual. "Yeah your not going anywhere today." "But I promised to take you aahhcoo coughs to the opening of the fall festival today!" He pouted coughing again. "Shadz there's always next year" I said giving him a kiss on the head. "Besides I rather take care of you." I said going into the our kitchen in our new apartment that we moved into last month. It's already been a year since my the first day I have arrived here and found the love of my life. As I opened the cabinet I see we're out of broths. "Shit hey Shadz im gonna run to the store I'll be right back!" I said leaving the apartment. He send a me a text asking to pick up his school assignment from yesterday since he missed out being sick.

I decided to stop by the school first to pick up his assignments and hand the office his doctors note. As I walk through the dark halls I suddenly feel uneasy. I shake it off and continue to walk down the hall. A dark figure brushes right behind me as I continue to walk. I finally arrived to his first class but for some reason I stopped myself from going in. "Have you heard?" A male said in the classroom. "What?" Another said. "Shadow been doing some shady shit behind knuckles back." "Dude no way" "it's true I saw him with some goth chick two days ago at the back end of the cafeteria. They were taking about something call Dark Gia." "Bro your full of shit" "Im serious they even kissed like with tongue" "so basically he's cheating on knuckles?" "Yeah since that's all that you heard jackass." I feel my heart sink to the bottom of my chest. "No it's just gossip there's no way he's cheating but what the hell is Dark Gia?"

I returned to the apartment and head to our room to see Shadow asleep holding a bunch of used tissues in his hand. I ignore the voice of doubt and sit down feeling his forehead. He's still warm. I was about to get up when I noticed a purple notebook hiding between the mattress and the box spring on his side the bed. I gently pull it out and walk out of the room. I flip it open to and my eyes widen when I see the label "Dark Gia". I flip through the many entries my heart pounding hoping I don't read what I just over heard when suddenly the door knocks. I put the notebook on the coffee table and open the door, only to find a package on the ground. As I bent down a figure speeds from one side of the hall to the other. I looked at the box with Shadow's name on it and black lipstick on the card. I lick the inside of my cheek and slam the front door. I noticed the notebook was no longer on the coffee table. I walk into our room to find it on the floor on my side of the bed. I drop the box on top of him waking him up. "Knux what the hell?" He said with a raspy voice. "Your whore left that for you" I said picking up the notebook and walked out the bedroom. "I can't believe this!" I thought in anger putting on my jacket. Shadow grabs my keys before I could. "Give me my keys and go back to bed" I said sternly. "I don't care how sick I am your upset and there's clearly been a misunder- WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT?!" He yelled when he noticed the notebook in my hand coughing trying to grab it. "No! You know how I feel about keeping secrets in a relationship!" I scolded at him. "So who's this gothic whore you been caught kissing behind my back with and what the hell is Dark Gia?!" I yelled feeling my eyes tear up.

I see his heart is broken but I didn't cheat on my mate I would rather be staked in the heart. "Well?!" He said. "Ok one ever heard the term "The kiss of the Devil Seals the Deal"?" He shakes his head. "Ok so I've noticed some of Rouges dark mist was still lurking around and since she's in hell she can control them. So I called an old friend..... who's a demon and she promised to get rid of the mist so you wouldn't get hurt.... Again." My ears folded. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry......" i finished. He roll his eyes. "What?" I asked. "Nice story but that doesn't explain why you two were talking about Dark Gia" He said as He yanked away the keys leaving our apartment with tears in his eyes. "I really should've told him..."

I stir the tea that swirls in my mug. "Knuckles?" I look up at Kat who has a worried face. "Hm?" "Well you haven't said a word since I got here.... And you called me here." She said. I let out a sigh. "Shadow and I had a fight because I found out he cheated on me........ and keeping a secret about Dark Gia...." I said in a low voice. "He what? I'm gonna go-" "Kat sit down please....." I said sternly. "He broke your heart and is keeping secrets from you that's not ok with me." She said. "Besides what is Dark Gia?" She asked  "That's what I been wondering I don't know. Then only thing I got is this notebook he was hiding in our bed." I said putting it on the table. She picks it up and flips through it. Her eyes widen when she gets to a part I didn't get to. "Knuckles..... You need to read this." She said. I grab the notebook and read the last entry a week ago.

September 26, 2134

Dark Gia is coming and she won't stop at nothing getting her dark ruby still hiding somewhere in the school. I spent the last 3 months searching. If she get ahold of that ruby the fate of the world would be in ruins and chaos will be our downfall.

October 5, 2134

It's Knuckles Birthday today but the worry still lingers in my mind. Rouges mist is still slipping through my traps. I fear it will cause a havoc at the college again. I worry about her using it against knuckles is why I strongly suggested we move into our own place where he is safe. Yet I can't stop him from going to his classes. I have no choice I need to call Estella. She might help with the mist and Dark Gia.

October 7, 2124

I went to the meeting with Estella in the cafeteria since it's closed today due to maintenance. I feel bad keeping this from my mate but it's to protect him. I hoped no one would see or hear what was said. I promised to allow her to use a part of my soul to wonder through town meaning I will be ill for about 5 days I just hope it won't start before the opening fall festival in two days. I promised my mate we go. In exchange for her to rid Rouges mist and help find the dark ruby. I had to seal the deal with a kiss. I hate that part I don't get why demon deals end with a kiss. I just hope she keeps her end of the deal.

"He was telling me the truth..... and maybe that box has the ruby" I thought. "Knuckles?" Kat said. "Shadow was telling me the truth he didn't cheat on me..... he kept this whole thing a secret but it was to protect me..." I said now feeling guilty. "Go to him knuckles." She smiled. I grab the notebook and leave the café.

I open the box seeing the ruby. "Thank god" I thought. In the card was evidence that the mist is gone. I sigh in relief but my heart is broken that I have hurt knuckles. The door open and I run into the living room seeing knuckles standing there. He wraps his arms around me and I return the hug. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have jump to conclusions. Please forgive me Shadz" he said holding me tight. "No I'm sorry I should've told you what's going on." I said with tears in my eyes. We look into each other's eyes. "No more secrets I promised no I commit to you I will never keep anymore secrets from you." I said as he smiles. "Actually from now on we work together no matter what." He said. "Sounds like a plan." I smiled. He kisses my forehead and picks me up. "Now let's get your sick ass back to bed" he laughed.  I laughed with him before coughing. "Next time don't make a deal with a demon using half your soul Shadz" he said smiling.

"Well it's worth it because I have the ruby"
