It was the day after Albus and Scorpius had arrived at the Potter house. While Albus still laid fast asleep upstairs, Scorpius helped Ginny with breakfast that morning. Harry was leaning against one of the countertops, sipping a cup of coffee while the three of them talked quietly so as not to disturb the boy upstairs.
"Coffee?" Harry asked Scorpius, going for another cup. The blonde nodded appreciatively, he was especially drowsy as he was woken up throughout the night by Albus having nightmares or shouting in his sleep. He only had to comfort Albus back to bed three times though, which was still better than what Scorpius had expected.
"So, how much did McGonagall tell you two exactly?" Scorpius asked, conversationally. He felt like it was up to him to put the Potter's at ease and inform them on what had happened.
"Just that Dean, rotten boy..." Ginny muttered with disgust, "Pretended to be Albus with polyjuice potion for a few days and locked him in that cabinet." she sniffed as she flipped pancakes, not wanting to think about it anymore. She hadn't slept a wink last night, especially when she realized that she had met Dean before, he had attended their Christmas celebration the previous year. She just wanted to strangle the little maggot for hurting her son.
"Would you like me to tell you everything?" Scorpius asked, he decided to fill her in on who Dean really was and why he did what he did. Ginny and Harry exchanged uneasy looks but they both nodded, turning their attention to Scorpius who turned off the stove and set down the spatula he had been using to scramble the eggs.
"Well, I guess it started last year. Dean was on the quidditch team with me and we started being friends when Albus was going to his tattoo apprenticeship on the weekends. We hung out a couple times and then he came to Christmas eve. I thought he was cool, Albus always had a weird feeling about him though. I guess he was right." Scorpius sighed, leading them all out to the living room where they could all sit.
"We had our big game at the end of the year to see who would win the quidditch cup, Slytherin and Gryffindor. Albus was reporting so he was there. And when Slytherin won we all flew back down to the ground and Dean kissed me in front of everyone in the stadium." he felt sort of disgusted as he said it, he had kissed Dean two times now and that was too much for his liking. Ginny swallowed and sat back against the sofa cushions.
"Albus and I were fine after that," Scorpius continued to Ginny's relief, "But Dean kept being weird about us. He told his ex girlfriend that I cheated on Albus with him, he kept asking me to meet up with him in secluded parts of the castle. We eventually did meet briefly but he just apologized. But...clearly he was kind of in love with me and didn't like Albus for that reason." Scorpius rubbed his tired eyes and Harry leaned forward, elbows on his knees, listening intently.
"And then when we went back to Hogwarts this year Dean was being sort of an asshole at first. He was causing problems at quidditch and being really difficult, but I figured it was because I rejected him...I didn't think he still liked me though, it seemed like he hated me actually. Anyways, the first Friday night that we were back Albus and I went to sleep...erm," he cleared his throat awkwardly and glanced up at Harry, "We sleep um...in the same bed so when I woke up I didn't think anything was suspicious, it was just Albus with me still."
Harry blinked, it was weird imagining his son all grown up, sleeping with his boyfriend every night, but nevertheless he continued listening, "But he seemed really confused when I reminded him about his portkey to the tattoo parlor, like he didn't know why he would need the portkey or where he would be going...but honestly I just thought Albus was kind of tired so I didn't really overanalyze it or anything...but over the next day or two, he started acting really weird...he wouldn't kiss me or sleep next to me or...even be around much. I didn't see him a lot which is abnormal because we're kind of attached at the hip and Hogwarts isn't big enough to avoid me for a long time." Ginny and Harry nodded in agreement.
