They had moved onto Albus's four poster bed and Scorpius was sitting criss-cross in front of Albus, who was leaning against his headboard, legs drawn up to his chest. "So, truth or dare?" Scorpius asked, trying to conceal his grin of anticipation. Finally, he would know. He would know for sure. He decided that in this moment he was so excited by the prospect of things going his way that if they didn't, he would be okay. I'll be okay, everything will be fine. I'll figure it out, he assured himself.

But as he looked up at Albus, who was sitting in front of him, biting the side of his cheek anxiously with his messy, curly brown hair (that was getting too long) hanging very adorably in his eyes, he realized that the alternative might just destroy him. He struggled to take a deep breath, there was no going back now. He knew he would regret it if he didn't find out now, today. Even if he didn't hear what he wanted to.

"Um...dare." Albus said with a nervous shrug. He too realized that this was an opportunity, for him to find out what he wanted, but there was the glooming possibility that he might blurt out something he didn't want to. He hoped Scorpius didn't ask him any questions related to romance.

"No fun!" Scorpius whined, turning the vial over in his hands restlessly. He wondered if it was wrong, using a potion to make Albus tell him the truth...but his curiosity would never cease and his sleepless nights would never end until he knew for sure.

"There are no right or wrong answers!" Albus exclaimed, "I said dare." he was disconcerted by the mischievous look in Scorpius's eye and his eagerness to get Albus to take the truth telling potion. What did his best friend want to know so badly?

"Fine," Scorpius grumbled, he knew he should be patient and tactical... He looked around the empty dormitory for something to do before his eyes eventually returned to the veritaserum in his palm again, "I dare you to drink this." He said, pressing the vial into Albus's reluctant hands.

"Scorpius!" Albus said, exasperatedly, "You can't do that!"

"Yes I can! It's a dare!"

"It's cheating!"

"Please, Albus. It'll be fun." Scorpius said with the most irresistible plead in his eyes. Albus looked at the vial in his hands warily, eventually concluding that Scorpius wasn't going to let it go, might as well get it over with and take advantage of the fact that Scorpius would be taking it too. He might be able to gain some valuable information....

"Fine." Albus said, resigned, unscrewing the cork. He tipped the vial into his mouth and allowed a few drops to his tongue before handing the potion off to Scorpius who mirrored his actions without orders to. After Scorpius set the remaining potion aside, the two boys sat still for a few moments as if trying to feel the effects of the potion inside them.

"Well, do you think it worked?" Scorpius asked slowly. Albus thought for a moment before nodding.

"I think so, I feel light. Different." He stated. 'Light' was the best way he could describe it, and although he hadn't gotten anything off his chest yet, he felt an immense weight lift from his shoulders. He privately wished that the potion lasted longer than an hour to hold on to this airy feeling.

"Alright, ask me a question." Albus said, crossing his arms expectantly.

"Umm, am I your best friend?" Scorpius asked, grinning. Albus rolled his eyes.

"Of course you are."

Scorpius nodded approvingly as he waited for Albus to come up with something. Should I play it safe?....or should I ask what I really want to know? Albus wondered, the questions were stacking up in his mind and he was scared to hear the answers to some of them and what Scorpius might ask of him in return. He took a deep breath, deciding to start slow, but not beat around the bush.
