WE JUST got to the Warehouse after Axel hung up the phone call with Vera. He didn't speak throughout the whole drive back to Warehouse with gave me an uneasy feeling.
What does she want from him?
When we entered the door of the Warehouse we saw Enzo standing there with Tristen and Jordan. My eyes widened in shock but also fear. Axel noticed my discomfort and grabbed my hand to pull me closer to his side.
"He won't touch you," he gently whispered into my ear and then kissed the side of my head.
We got closer to the guys and that's when I saw Vera standing there with crossed arms and a smirk on her face.
"Look who decided to finally join us," she directly said to Axel.
Her gaze shifted towards me and that's when her smirk grew bigger. "Isabella," she dragged my name longer with a little Italian accent.
"Haven't seen you in a long time. How have you been?" her eyes roamed my whole body and stopped right at my little belly. I'm not showing much but there is a little bump there.
"And you are pregnant," she excitedly said while her eyes shifted between Axel and me. "Congratulations,"
"Thank you," I smiled as I noticed that Enzo was glaring at me.
I gulped and tried to ignore him as much as I can.
"Why are you here, Vera?" Axel asked, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to his side.
"A little birdy told me that you are preparing to fight Sila and the Russians," she smirked which made Axel narrow his eyes at her.
"Why do you care?"
"Well, you see, I was in Japan a few days ago because of the Yakuza boss, Hiroto Itō. He asked me to do a mission for him and completed it within a few days," she said, placing her hands on her hips.
"What mission?" Axel curiously asked.
She sighed. "To kill you and Isabella," she jerked her chin towards me and him.
"Why?"
"Because he's working with Sila. He always did," she explained which made my eyes widen. Axel told me that the Yakuza is a very strong Mafia who played dirty.
"How do you know all of this?" Axel continued asking. Vera rolled her eyes and groaned. "I'm his assassin so that means I hear stuff. His men talk a lot so I eavesdropped on a conversation from his right hand, Yuki Satō. He talked about how Hiroto wants you dead. And he wants me to do it. He also mentioned Sila and the Russians,"
