"THE MODEL, Aaliyah Noami Davis, sadly and unexpectedly passed away. The family didn't reveal on was cause she died but they held a statement about the situation and asked all fans to respect their privacy. We also heard-" I quickly turned off the TV and turned back around to face the mirror that was in front of me.
Roaming my eyes over the black dress that I had on, I straightened it with my right hand and sighed.
Today is Aaliyah's funeral which I'm not ready for. I knew this day will eventually roll up and I tried to prepare myself mentally which I miserably failed at.
How can you be ready to bury your best friend? To say goodbye to all the memories you had with them? To move on with your life with this big hole in your heart? To live life as if nothing happened and forget about her after a few years? To forget her voice? To forget her face? How can I be possible ready for this?
Aaliyah was the first person to understand me and my burdens. She knew what I went through and still stayed by my side no matter what. She was the one that dropped everything and moved to Italy with me because I was a naïve girl. She knew how to make me happy.
She made me happy.
She wasn't just my best friend.
She was my sister.
A knock on the door made me snap back to reality, realizing I still stood in front of the mirror, staring into the void.
"Yes?" the door opened up and Axel's head popped in. "Hey, baby. Are you ready?" he stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
I sighed again. "Could you please zip up my dress?" he nodded and walked up to me. He was wearing a black tuxedo with a tie and a black dress underneath the jacket.
I pushed my hair away from my back so that he can zip my dress up without getting my hair caught up in the zipper.
Goosebumps spread all over my body when I felt his fingertips grace my skin. He caressed my skin down to my zipper with his finger and gently zipped my dress up.
Taking a deep breath, I looked up into the mirror where I saw Axel was looking at me. He stepped closer and tilted his head down to my exposed shoulder. His lips connected with my skin. ''Are you worried?'' he whispered against my shoulder.
I shook my head slightly. ''I'm scared,'' chuckling, I turned around to face him.
''You don't have to say anything at the funeral if you are not ready for it,'' I shook my head once again while lifting my hands to his tie. ''No, I have to. I need to,'' I said, patting his chest.
I sighed. ''We should go,'' I gave him a weak smile and he nodded.
