THROUGHOUT THE CAR DRIVE, Isabella didn't speak or do anything. She just sat there sobbing and wiping her tears away. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if she wanted space or if she wanted me to comfort her.
I decided to not speak and drive to the safe house away from the City. It was too risky to stay in our apartment or my house. I called my mother and told her to get out of the house but she told me that she's currently in Spain with my sister, visiting someone. I didn't ask her who she was visiting because I was way too busy looking out for Bella.
Looking up into the sky, I noticed that it was getting darker even though it was still five pm. Dark clouds covered the whole sky which made the whole situation sadder.
''Where are we going?'' Bella's cracky voice spoke up which made e sigh in relief. I got scared that she wasn't going to talk to me anymore. ''We are going to a safe house because it's not safe here in the City,'' I explained as I stopped at the red light.
Turning my head to her, I saw she was resting her head on the cold window.
Should I talk to her? I asked myself but I again decided to stay quiet.
The light turned green and I started driving again.
After 30 minutes we arrived at the safe house in the middle of the woods. Bella and I unbuckled our seat bells and then got out of the car. As we got to the door of the house, I pulled my keys out and unlocked the door.
I held the door open so that Bella can enter first. When she did, I followed her inside and went to the kitchen to place the keys on the kitchen counter. The interior design is all wooden. It's actually a cabin and not a house but from the outside, it looks like a house.
I sighed and turned my head to Bella who was looking out of the big window in front of her with her arms secured around her body. Opening my mouth to say something, she cut me off without looking at me. ''Where's the bathroom?'' she slightly turned her head to me and I pointed at the small hallway to her left. She gave me a quick nod and started walking to the bathroom while I watched her disappear to the corner.
When I heard the door close, I let out a loud sigh and rubbed my face with my hands in frustration.
I blame myself for everything.
That wouldn't have happened if I was there. I could have protected her. I promised her that I wouldn't leave her and I once again broke it.
I don't even understand how she still loves me. How she can still look me in the eyes without wanting to punch me.
When I heard the water running, I started walking towards our bedroom to get her some clothes to wear once she's get out of the shower.
When I got back to the living room, my phone started ringing. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked who was calling me.
