After the interview, Jennie thanked Rowoon and Choi Wonyoung.

"You're welcome. Of course I had to defend my company's artist!" Choi Wonyoung didn't put on an air as he curiously sized Jennie up. "Oh yeah, Miss Kim, are you very close to... our Rowoon?"

Choi Wonyoung was really curious about Jennie's relationship with Rowoon. Hence, he couldn't help but probe and ask.

"Errr..." Jennie, who hadn't expected that her boss would be so down-to-earth, was at a loss for words.

Rowoon interrupted, looking helpless. "President Choi, didn't I mention this before? We are merely friends. I recommended her because she has potential."

Choi Wonyoung looked as though he didn't believe a single word that Rowoon had just said. He clicked his tongue and retorted, "Did I just meet you yesterday? You have never asked anything about the company's matters or recommended anyone to me before. Something is amiss."

Choi Wonyoung was quite certain of his hunch.

Rowoon exchanged a glance with Jennie helplessly. If this went on, Choi Wonyoung's imagination would run wild again.

A second later, Choi Wonyoung narrowed his eyes and interrogated them. "As your boss, I demand the truth! Are the two of you in a relationship?"

Jennie coughed and choked when she heard him.

She and Rowoon... Impossible!

Rowoon sighed wearily. "President Choi, it's really not that..."

Jennie nodded furiously. "How could it be? It's totally impossible!"

Choi Wonyoung's eyes swiveled from Rowoon to Jennie repeatedly. "If he isn't dating you, why would he be so protective of you? He may seem gentle and polite to everyone, but he has never crossed a line! Especially around an actress!"

She could tell that Choi Wonyoung was bent on seeking the truth and was too smart and shrewd to be fooled. To prevent him from making wild guesses, Jennie had to spin a lie. "I... I... I am considered his relative!"

"You're his relative?" Choi Wonyoung looked startled. "I had no idea that the Manoban family had relatives like you..."

Choi Wonyoung didn't mean to insult Jennie, but a prominent family like the Manobans naturally wouldn't be associated with relatives like her...

Jennie coughed to clear her throat. She then explained using the same way she had used to answer Doyeon. "We are distant relatives... We are not related by blood... Mr. Manoban was nice enough to help me..."

Choi Wonyoung narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Alright, I believe you. But why didn't he help you before? Why would he wait until now?"

Jennie bit her lip, looking conflicted. Then, she muttered under her breath, "I just started dating Rowoon's Big Brother... So I just became his distant relative..."

Rowoon heard Jennie and chuckled in amusement.

Jennie... wasn't wrong...

"What did you say?" Choi Wonyoung pressed on, as he hadn't caught her words.

Jennie hastily replied, "Nothing! I wanted to say that every word I say is true! I would never dare lie to you, President Choi! If I'm telling a lie, may I be struck by lightning!"

Choi Wonyoung stroked his chin, looking thoughtful. "Hmmm..."

Rowoon cut across before Choi Wonyoung could interrogate Jennie again. "Jennie, go back first."

"Oh! Okay! I shall set off now then..." She swiftly departed.

...

It surprised Jennie greatly that both Rowoon and Sungjae appeared together at dinner time. She wondered if she had pricked their conscience with the photo she had sent previously.
