34. Isabella

Day 6

"ISABELLAAA," You yell at the door. The second you do this, the door opens to reveal the girl.
"What?" She says harshly.

Well that was unexpected.

"I was sent here by Mirabel to bother you," you say, smiling.
"Is that so?"
You nod.

"MIRABELLL!" Isabella screams down the staircase. No response.

She sighs, then turns back to you.
"What's your name, kid?"
"Y/n...?"
"Of course it is," she exhales, "Well, if what Camilo says is correct, then you're not a terrible person."

You look at her, shocked and confused.
"Why don't you come on in." She gestures towards her room.

When you walk in, you're hit by a wave of color. Plants are growing on every surface: flowers, trees, and cacti line the room like a mosaic. Shrubs are trimmed to perfection, making figures of none other than Isabella herself. Palm trees bend inwards toward Isabella's bed which is suspended by vines.

She's definitely the favorite child.

"Woah, this is so cool!"
"Yeah. Honestly, I'm still discovering new plants to make to this day."
"That's crazy."
"Mhm..."

"...by the way," she changes her tone, "what's up with you and my little cousin?"
"Hm?"
"Are you two like- together?"
"What?" you hesitate, "No."
"HAHA! I told him he couldn't get a girl if he tried."

"I wouldn't be too sure of that."
"You mean-"
"Mhm."
"When?"
"Hopefully tonight."
"Well, I'm sure he won't say no."
"Why?"

"Child, that boy would do anything for you- I doubt he'd turn you down."
"But-"
"-Nope. He would never."
"B-"
"-Ever."

As she says this, Mirabel bursts in.
"WAKEY WAKEYYY! IT'S TIME FOR BREAKFASTTT!"
Both you and Isabella sigh. That kid is too much.

When you get downstairs, you see that everyone is gathering outside to eat. When Isabella goes out to the table, you decide to venture back to your door. However, as you begin walking, Camilo stops you, grabs your hand, and drags you outside.

"But it's not my familyyyy!" you retaliate
"But you can still eat with usss!" Camilo responds in the same whiney tone. You pout at him, but he ignores you, and sits down. You decide to sit between him and Dolores.

As Abuela begins to speak, you wonder how they can deal with it. How can someone be so boring?

Suddenly, your chair starts sliding closer to Camilo. You look to see Dolores pushing your chair over. Camilo doesn't seem to notice. You look at her judgementally.

"Sorry, thought you'd wanna be closer to your boyfriend," she whispers.

You look over at Camilo, who's not paying attention, and then back at Dolores.

"I hate you," you mouth at her.
"Thanks," she replies.
